Dental Check up

I tried to "force" myself to do a dental check up every 6 months. Today is the day...

I dragged myself to the appointment. Sitting on the dental chair... Every time also like that... I hate the machine sounds when they are doing teeth scaling... and the sprinkle water that gets to your face... and the suction thing that suck out your saliva (the image of this always turns my stomach upside down)... Arrrghhh.... hate it hate it hate it..

So there I was... on the chair... and in my head, the image of next visit is already playing there... yeee.... why 6 months pass by so darn fast one???

BUT, after the session was over, I was as happy as a bird again!!!!! Yippie... no need to think about it for the next 6 months!!!

At first, doctor sees me, asked me what's wrong. (they so busy one meh? no time to look through the paper? I am sure the nurse got scribble somewhere there I am here for teeth scaling) I said nothing is wrong, I am here for the routine thing - check up and scaling. After checking up my teeth, doctor said my teeth is good. I said the lower front ones like getting over sensitive. He asked me how sensitive? I said when cold wind blew and if I sucked in the cold air, I feel the tingling feeling. He asked me use sensodyne toothpaste. Does it really work???

Next thing to do is the annual body check up... have to start the good habit of not eating junk food from now... we plan to do the check up in June... two more months to act good. This is called 临时抱佛脚!hehehe... hmmm...

Alaskan King Crab

Suddenly thought of the Alaskan King Crab we had over the weekend. The crab was huge!!!!!! over 10 lbs. And they are very very very very delicious!!! Dunno how to tell you, you know we malaysian really like our butter crab, those type? This is totally a different level. Of course, the price is also not cheap. That crab alone costs us nearly $300 before tax. There are 8 of us. With other dishes, each of us paid about $50. This is considered very pricey in Canada. Normally a meal should not cost you more than $20/head. But all of us very happy with the crab. hehehe... Money well spent.

The photo I took is in my camera. But I will show you a photo I saw on google. Just to show you the size of it. Sorry to the two gentlemen in the picture.. haha.. I just want to showcase the proportionate size of a king crab vs us human.

I heard this year we export king crab out to China and it costs them RMB1000/lb if eat at restaurant. I don't know how true it is.

My ah bui is not a crab person, he also very like to eat the king crab:) It is almost end of the season by now. I think the restaurant we went to eat has 10 left. After that, should be no more. That's it! For such high price, once a year is also enough lah. haha...

Yum Yum:)

Yoghurt

Some yoghurt, doesn't look good, but taste good.

Hmmmm....

Good Friday

Yes, tomorrow is Good Friday, off!!!!!!!!

I don't really care what is good friday, or what is easter. I really don't care. Don't ever start by telling me simi resurrection. Please..... eh-hemmm....

I already made arrangement with some frens to eat King Crab tomorrow! yay... I had eaten King Crab once last year, boss belanja office, it is quite delicious. 顾名思义, it is a huge crab with long pointy leg. Yum Yum...

I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow. Was outside a while just now and kena the wind and now feeling a bit under the weather. Speaking of that, I should go drink some Vit C, just to make sure I stay strong during the long weekend. Falling sick at long weekend is the shittiest thing you can have here. hah!

^_^"

Today is my colleague official last day here. After he is gone, practically, I am the only one left to take ALL the shits from my boss. Or-ni-toh-fut.... sigh.

I am gonna miss him. Even though he always curi tulang, but he is the most decent human being in this office. Sigh. SIGH... Why good men always have to leave first?

By the way, at the farewell lunch today, an English educated chinese business partner said something of the following, I almost chocked on my dessert..:

He, "you know last time the china emperor has many concubines... He has the power. I wish I am like him, has all the power and women."
Me -- almost choke, but OK lah... he is so innocent. Didn't he know most china emperor die very young age? They hari hari do, all the 精华 kena lost in the process...
He continues, "he has many concubines... then the concubine's palace nearest to his palace is the most advantage one, he will visit her most often"
Oh no... please lah.... the game is not played like that ok.... u think the nearest person gets advantage???? Arrrgh...

from there on, I switched off liao. I hate listen to conversations that they think they know everything...

hate

Hate undercertainty, unfairness, unreasonable people, and impolite people.

and... hate stubborn people too. They always think they are right, the way they think is right, and the way they see the world is right.

Shall I?

After being tortured by my boss to act like his accountant (without the title and of course, without the appropriate accountant's pay), I realized I do love accouting. I am not sure what happend back then at university, why I cannot make sense of those accounting entries. I nearly flunk my first accounting course at university while I have As for all other courses in Business. It all make perfect sense to me now after gone through 1-2 financial statements  preparation per company per year-end (yes, my boss owns like 10 companies). The fact that Canadian tax system is complicated even make me feel excited dealing each company differently. I actually love doing it!

I am thinking of getting an accounting professional certificate. Should I? Would I be too old to do that?

hmmmmmmm....

Do I look like I have a computer degree??

One of my job function (unwritten of course), is, answer boss queries on his malfunction computer. And I hate it.

Hallloooo, which part of my resume last time said I have an MIS degree or computer related experience???

Whenever he cannot open a page, or error page occured, or hanged gei, or cannot sent out email, or got virus, or if he wants to save a page as favorite, or picture file size too big he cannot send out through email, he will ask me. I tried to hint to him this is not my area, but he kept pushing like I should know how to fix it. TIU. If I know how to fix it, you won't be able to hire me with such low cost ok!

@#$%!

The weird thing is, unless he kena virus, most of his so called problem I am able to solve it for him. Which I hate it!!!! Oi, I am not paid to do this ok, just  because I am smart, you cannot take advantage of me! >_<"

Spring is in the air (yesterday)

Went to Stanley Park yesterday. Lot's of sunshine, but still very chilly. But it puts up smiles on people face just looking at the wild animals enjoying the sun/daily routine. They are so cute! And the flowers... hmm.. very beautiful. Don't know they grow it wild or someone planted them in the park??
This whole week will be groomy and rainy though.

My ah Bui!

We have an appointment with a Notary Public today at 5pm. I asked if Bui is free to give me a ride today, he said ok.

This morning, I know from past that sometimes his ears got issue, like cannot listen to my words... or my reminders, so I reminded him again, today, to be at my office at 4.30pm.

He said OK.

Just now at 4pm, I texted him to remind him to pick me up. At 4.15pm, his text came in, "I should be at your place at 4.50pm hor? I am leaving now".

Me, >_<"

Really sweat.... why my Bui like that one? Damn angry at him... sigh... SIGH!!!!!!! Gao Meng ah~~~~~~

无题

I hate winter. This year winter is super long, super cold, super windy, and super full of rain. Sigh...

Last week I saw 2 rainbows, 2 rainbows together leh. And normally the rainbow I saw before were very faint in color. But this one, 2 rainbows also very clear about the 7 colors!!! hoohooo... So happy to see rainbows. The purple color is super romantic neh~~~ hehehe..

Yawn... tomorrow is Friday. Supposed to feel happy. But then I thought of Monday, and then feel depressed again. Sigh.

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

la...la... la...

Please tell me why am I so busy while my boss not in office~~~ busy until I got headache, so rugi lah! tiu!!

Want to curi tulang also cannot... yiu...

I booked appointment to cut my hair across the street, tomorrow at 11am. Muahahhaa... don't care... Must do something personal so that not waste this golden opportunity. Was pretty happy since last friday because boss not here to torture me til this Thursday.

I have a small wish, I hope Air Canada on strike again tomorrow so that.... hehehehe.... wink wink... ^_*

OK... Honey moon is about to end.... by the way, my another colleague is leaving the company, got better offer and better boss, 他就好ler~~~~~~ So, left only me, the only one, to take all the shits from my boss. Let's see how long I can tahan? I recently went for an interview... apparently, I am quite valuable. I am so pumped up after the interview, regardless they hire me or not (if they hire, probably I won't go too. I had been thinking about it... Boss is great there, but then location is a bit far.. hmmm.... HMMM... well...), I feel motivated knowing I do have value in the market. But I cannot believe I feel sympathy to my boss when I know that that staff is leaving us, and I am also thinking of leaving him. Maybe he should 面壁思过, if he is good to people, people won't be leaving him ok. He is very kanasai. No wonder lah... anyway, I am angry at myself for pitying him if I do leave after that staff left. He will be alone, Who can do his stuff? Maybe he can ask his sister help him. BUT maybe there will be 家变 if that happens... well, workplace is the same as the saying 相见容易,相处难.

OK lah..... sibeh boss asked me to check him in for tomorrow's flight.... 讨厌!Sometimes I feel he should post a handicap stickers in his car, because he is "handicapped"! @#$%!

Skytrain is like a box of chocolate too, you never know who will sit around you..

People say, life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you going to get.

I say, taking skytrain is like a box of chocolate too, you never know who will sit around you. It is sometimes amusing, but most of the time annoying.

I don't know if I have a magnet or what, I always end up sitting near or around "unusual" people.

My work is at downtown, 2 stops before the terminal station. After working hour, it is a peak period, and to get comfy and be able to read decently, I will take that extra 2 stops to terminal station, and then I can choose the seat going home.

Most seats at skytrain are two-seaters. If you lucky, you get the lone-seater and nobody can kacau you, well, except if you get irritating people who stands near you. Believe me, it is no fun to sit at lone-seater at rainy days, the people standing with dripping umbrella is the worst! And some idiot, will just let their umbrella to drip right at your pants. @#$%!

Anyway, I normally get the two-seater, coz I hate being ka-ka cau-cau by standers who stand too near to the seats (lone-seater). Normally at the 1st stop, nobody will seat at the second two-seater. But afterwards, you get people filling in. That's where the interesting part comes!

I think I have magnet. I always get "unusual" seater sit next to me!!

- Yesterday, this stupid man sit next to me, he keep texting on his phone, and his text msg has this annoying loud alert when there's message coming in, and while he texting his messages, he laugh by himself, and his legs keep shaking!!!!! MEN!!!! Can I tell you that if you shake your leg at common area, for instance, like in cinema, bus, skytrain, plane, you will disturb the person whose chair shares some mechanical substance with your chair?!!! Oh Gosh, I have to stop myself from turning to him to YELL at him "QUIT SHAKING YOUR LEG!!!!". So irritating.

- 2 days ago, well this is not from the terminal stop, this is from the stop I aboard going to work from my house. Anyway, in the morning, there's seldom an empty two-seater spots (meaning both spots are empty leh). But that day, I thought I was lucky, I sat at this empty two-seater. But wtihin 5 seconds, I noticed a smell... it is those kind of smell if you go camping, you cannot wash your hair for 2-3 days... but, multiply it by 10. I think the guy in front of me did not wash his hair for 1 month. His hair is "wet".. "waxy"... "and got white spot". I don't know the white spot is dandruff or egg of something... But he is damn smelly!!!!!!! His friend sitting next to him is very clean though. They are both in their 22-23 age. Arghh.. I immediately move to the next seat. But I can still smell him!! The smell is like a curse... and then after work, I took skytrain back, and I got a feeling I sit at his same spot, the spot he sat at in the morning. Because on and off, I can still smell him!!!!! So disgusting!!!! Yucks!!!!

- One day of last month, there is this Vietnamese guy, young, I think 19-20, he was standing (so was I, in the morning, sometimes if I tersilap the hour and went out before peak hour ended, I have to stand for whole journey). I was holding onto the vertical rail. He came in 2 stops after me, and he standnig beside me. Holding the same rail. But his hand kept sliding down and touched me!!!!! Wah... this baga!!!!! I wanted to "excuse me, your hand", but before I can do that, I noticed he has something wrong. He kept shaking his body.... and then suddenly, he sing, in vietnamese language!!! LOUD. After he sang, he laughed. wah..... so scary lah... I quietly moved away from him. But luckily he got out after 3 stops.

- Also happened last month, also a crazy guy. I think he is homeless. At terminal station, we both get on the train. He sat behind me, I sat in front. And he suddenly threw newspaper at the guy sitting diagonolly of him. And then that guy speak in loud tone (but cannot figure what he speaks), and laugh at himself. I quickly moved to another seat. I cannot tahan another crazy man in the sky train. Not when I have to travel from terminal station to my place, that's 10 stops ok... the whole journey, he just keep talking loudly and keep laughing. And keep repeating the same sentence again and again. I think he really is chi xin.

Sigh... so many examples lah.... I should write a journal - My daily encouters at skytrain. Ha~~~~~

The Grey

We watched this movie at home last night.

It is about a plane crashes in Alaska, seven oil workers are led by a skilled huntsman to survival, but a pack of merciless wolves haunts their every step. At the end, everyone mampus - eaten by wolves.

When it was 死剩 one last man, after he failed to save his last mate at the river, that man shouted at the sky (at Jesus more correctly), to ask Him to show him a sign! To save him! But nothing happens. And after all the effort of survival, long walk along the river hoping to reach a village, that last man, actually wander into the wolves den instead. It was such a sad ending. More like 命运弄人. Imagine, after you put in all your effort, walk until feet also feels numb and pain, you reached your enemy home!! What a joke.

This movie further reinforces my believe now - There's no God. If there is God, He won't let all these happens, survived from plane crash and eaten by wolves? Come on! If there is a God, He won't let Tsunami happened and killed so many people, and even worse, those survived, is now facing the threats of radioactive for the next 30 years. What a 命运弄人. By the way, it was an anniversary for them, March 11th 2011 was the begining of their nightmare. More 矛盾, I was reading 南京大屠杀 lately... so, if there is God, would He allowed those 350,000 chinese people died in just that 6 weeks?? In such cruel way?

Do you still believe there's Jesus up there??

Buy and Hold

Saw this on a line at moneysense.ca (my favorite magazine in Canada here), the joke is so funny, I have gotta share with you:)

....

"
Your eyes open slowly, and the light stings your retinas. Your mouth is burning with thirst, your muscles hopelessly weak. You’re in a hospital room, surrounded by an anxious medical team. “Welcome back,” says the doctor with an uneasy smile.
“What happened?” you manage, the words catching in your parched throat.
“You were in a terrible car accident: you were hit by a bus,” the doctor says gently. “You’ve been in a coma.”
“How long?”
The doctor glances nervously at her colleagues. “A long time, I’m afraid.” She pauses again. “Three years.”
It takes a few seconds for this to sink in. Three years? Your mind is filled with just one urgent question. “I gotta know, Doc. Give it to me straight. How have the markets been doing?”
Again the doctor looks nervously at the rest of the medical team, and they avert their eyes. “I’m sorry,” she says. “It’s been an absolutely terrible time to invest—the worst I’ve ever experienced. Europe is on the verge of collapse. The U.S. government is a financial basket case—it even had its credit rating downgraded. Japan had a terrible tsunami that caused a nuclear disaster. Iran may go to war with the U.S. Interest rates are at all-time lows. People are saying gold will hit $10,000 an ounce. And it looks like the Leafs will miss the playoffs again this season.”
You’re devastated by the news. The last thing you remember before that bus struck your car on March 8, 2009, was listening to a radio report about how “investors are potentially standing on the precipice of another Great Depression.” In fact, you were planning to sell your whole Couch Potato portfolio and move to cash as soon as you got home. But you never made it, and now it’s too late: the nightmare has come true. You must be wiped out.
Pulling yourself up in the bed, you demand that someone hand you a laptop, and you go online to read the bad news for yourself. You go to the iShares website and check the three-year annualized returns on several of your index funds, and here’s what you find:

iShares S&P/TSX Capped Composite18.7%
iShares S&P/TSX SmallCap29.3%
iShares S&P/TSX Capped REITs37.0%
iShares DEX Universe Bond7.0%
iShares DEX Real Return Bond15.8%

That can’t be right, you think. The doctor said that the last three years have been the most difficult in recent memory. But these returns look like they’re right out of the 1990s bull market. “I guess Canada made it through unscathed,” you think. Then you tap the keyboard and visit Vanguard to see how the international markets did, expecting to see blood spill from the screen. But what’s this?

Vanguard Total Stock Market26.7%
Vanguard Small-Cap33.3%
Vanguard MSCI EAFE20.1%
Vanguard MSCI Emerging Markets32.3%

“Doc, you must have been mistaken,” you say. But when you glance up from the screen you see the doctor is frantically trying to resuscitate the patient in the next bed. “Clear!” she shouts as she zaps him with the defibrillator. His body jerks violently, then slumps motionless. “Again!” she shouts, hitting the patient with another charge. But the heart monitor shows a flat line—it’s too late. “He’s gone,” the doctor intones.
“Who was that guy?” you ask.
“That was Byan Hold (buy and hold!). I’m afraid he’s dead.”
You take one more look at your laptop screen, still trying to reconcile the numbers with the doctor’s account of the past three years and the corpse in the next bed. Finally, it comes to you in a moment of clarity—you’ve figured out the secret of investment success.
“Hey, Doc,” you say. “Do me a favour, will you? Put me back in the coma.”

It's Weekend

It's Weekend!!!!! (Happy, because no need to work, no need to contemplating want to smash the alarm clock kao kao in the morning so it can shut up)

It's Weekend.... (Not happy, because stock market close, and I don't have the "uhhhm" feeling in the morning to feel chi gek and take a ride with daily ups and downs)

Sigh..... why every thing is double edge sword ge leh?

p/s: I always tune in my alarm clock so it will go off half an hour before my "wish-wake-up" time. Then I snooze it for about 5-6 times before it reached my "critically late if you don't wake up" time. Then lately I realized if I snoozed it for more than the maximum time, it will just keep quiet until I woke up and saw the clock time and yelled "SHIT I AM LATE!!!!!! DAMN U ALARM CLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Ah Bui always laugh at this drama scene. I think my alarm clock hates me. It's a revenge time for it.

I am late for work for 1 hour today.

Feb 29

The guai lo call today "Leap Day".

Once in every four years, so there presents a reason to celebrate today.

But what happened to the missing day (Feb 30)? Really missing one day leh, expecially for business men. Right?

But there was no Feb 30 in the history anyway... so...

Again shows that we should not mourn for things we never had, but should cherish the things we have, or occasionally have (e.g. Leap Day, yeh!!!). hehehe.

Crooked story - by my favorite author!

Reading Richard Paul Evans books is really compromising my sleep quality... his books are the type, once you started the first page, it is difficult to put down.

I have finished 6-7 of his books now (I can't remember exactly), but the best he has written is "Christmas List" (I blogged before in 2010), "The Walk", and "Miles to Go". The Walk and Miles to Go are especially good. I am waiting for the next one to come out.

I don't quite like The Christmas Box where everyone says it is the best. I think the hype has been driven up too high and when I finished reading it, I only find it so-so, and thus extremely disappointed. And then last night I finished "Promise Me", I can only give 2.5 out of 5 stars, not the usual 4.5 stars that I will give to his books. "Promise Me" has a very crooked perspective of relationship... it talks about a happy family of 3 set place in 1989, then the man cheated on the wife, and he died and thus the wife is very devastated and lose trust in men. But then this another men from 2008 (from the future, that's right) came back to 1989 to take care of her, and he is good looking and young and he is her daughter's husband in 2008. You will ask why he wants to do that? So crooked right? It is because his wife/her daughter is dying from cancer in 2008 and he made her a promise that he will take care of his mom. And then some how he was back in 1989 where he is still 10, but he came back as an adult.. so confusing. And cut the grandma story short, THEY FELL IN LOVE!!!!! MOST CROOOKED THING I CAN IMAGINE!!!! Imagine, your mom and your husband fell in love!!!!!

Arghhh... was quite angry at Richard (author) last night. How can he???? I wanted to vomit. Whenever anytime out of ordinary happened, I will feel like vomit. arghhh... he has nothing better to do ah??

Good thing is, the author make it clear that there's nothing intimate going between the mom (because he told her the story, and she felt sad, and jealous of her daughter too!) and that 2008 man. In fact, he saved her life financially and mentally, he was in her life for just 10 months. But because he travelled from future, so he knows every bet/gambling result and he helped her win money to pay off her house loan. This is a way he promised his wife to take care of his mom. Hmmmph... After he left her to go back to 2008, and after 2 years, she met anotehr special guy and married to this other man.

She has to wait 18 years to finally reached that 2008 moment where her daughter's husband and her daughter come for Christmas Eve dinner with her and her husband. And the guy remember her! (because he just came back from1989 mah... aiyoh). And while they are alone, they hug each other tight tight to tell each other they missed each other. I wanted to vomit again at that point. ARRGHHH!!!! >_<

Crooked story that steal my sleep quality.... I am so sleepy now... and still feeling a bit angry. @#$%!

My soulmate

Afternoon: Me phoning Bui...

Me, "hello.... bla bla."
Bui, "Yes."
Me, "bla bla"
Bui, "OK"
Me, "...bla"
Bui, "OK, spit it out, what is it?"

wah.... I didn't even talk about what was bothering me, and Bui knew I was not happy from my tone!!! I am so touched.... Bui is really my soulmate.

Since Bui initiated it... What I did was:
Me, "bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla, and he was so stupid!!!! bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla. Stupid right???!!! bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla what right he thinks he has to make my day like hell??? bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla. I am going to change vendor!!!!!! and I won't pay him til 3 months later!!!! bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla. "

And all Bui did was...
Bui "Yah. You are right Honey. Yes, he is stupid."

Even though he didn't do much, but he let me sweat it all out, and I felt so much better.

I really love my Bui =)

Snowboarding

I think I love snowboarding! Although now my whole body are aching now (upper arm muscles - from carrying the board; buttock - from falling to the ground; side upper leg - bruises from falling to the ground), but it is fun!!

OK, at least something to look forward to during the gloomy winter. It is an expensive sports though~ The day we went, the weather is so super cooperative - sunny, blue clear sky, and not cold! :) It is quite demotivating at first because kept falling in that 2 hours lesson. The instructor taught the lesson at a very steap small hill!!! After the lesson, we snowboard down the bunny hill, and it was much more flatter compare to the lesson ground, and therefore easier to control and balance the body. When the confidence level is there, it is so much easier to maneavur the board. You will not believe how sensitive is the board.  Have to use legs, body, hands to control the balance and the direction of where you are going. But once you can avoid falling, it was so much fun!!

I like it:)

Meaningless

Wasn't feeling very motivated lately. Not happy about job and quality of life here.

My boss is having male menopause. Therefore, you can imagine what kind of hell life I have at work.

Not happy about the fact that I was graduated from great university here, great GPA scores, great major, great work experience (in Asia only!) and yet, because of the "new immigrant" title, I land on a crappy job. Wanted to do something more meaningful but it means have to get new certificates (yes, even with MBA) on that specific field. And with that cert, it does not guaranteed will get me a good job. Yes lah, what else can be guaranteed in our life, except

I don't know what to expect from this crappy life:( This is so demotivated. I feel like I am trapped in this cage, and I can't see the sunlight, it's all dark.

I feel helpless and hopeless. Life seems without meaning, well, other than Bui and mom and sis, life is really meaningless... sigh... :(( I don't know what this tasteless and full of hell-ty taste Mon-Fri job will get me.

(Eric, if you are reading... sorry leh... that day almost 坏你好事,呵呵)。

it's strange that even though it is I am at western time, all the important dates I "remember" are all asia time....

First post in 2012

I am back~~~~~

The jet lag is very annoying. I felt so drained out by 8.30pm every night for the past 2 weeks. And the long haul flight is so scary... 12 hours in a closed cabin is just too long to stay sane. I am not kidding. Both Jay and I are not planning any long haul trip for the next 12 months, unless my sister is getting married in Dec (I begged her please NOT this year~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 可怜可怜你姐!)

So, what did I achieve this trip back to KL? I spent time with my mom and sis, that's the most precious achievement. I didn't really go out see many friends. Those that I went out to see are those who really tracked me down with all means, if not, I really lazy to make arrangement. Sorry kawan-kawan, your friend me is getting old... lazy to plan and think ahead. hehehe... next time babes~~~ next time.. I didn't even go on facebook for the whole duration! Some achievements eh? hahaha... and then I make a trip down to see my uncle and his family in Singapore, day trip.. sob sob... there really is not a lot of time. I hari hari like go to war, do all the official things related to government stuff and banking during Mon-Fri, and then have to split the trip in half to Muar and KL leh... and then Bui is aji ajo-ing already, he said I split the half not really half one, I pian xin, I put more weight on KL and only 30% on muar. hahahahaa... I think he is quite pissed off at me after he realized it but then too late, arrangement has been made. Well, perhaps next time we will just separate - he goes muar, I stays at KL. But then I miss the baby girl her brother has at muar... she is so cute!!!

Anyway, here I am, back to this lousy lalaland... snowing today... make it even more lousy. I really start not to like this place very much. Things are getting more expensive. Government wants to raise the public transport fees by 13%, and the healthcare monthly installment is raised by 7%. Sometimes I just want to give them my whole pay cheque and tell them go to hell. Anyway.... if summer is not coming soon, I think I will be cursing very very soon again~~~ ARGHH!!!!

Then YVR airport has the most stringent custom in this whole big world. They just want to catch you in every little thing. I read the declaration form about the definition of "food", it says something meat.. with seads... plants.. things like that. So we brought instant coffee, one pack of instant noodle, tea leafs, cookies (CNY mah). So I clicked NO on declaration form. It is really a NO if I follow the "food" definition. But according to the officer, they are considered food. Of course they are food, we put them into mouth and consume, but it was not the "food" as you layout on the form. But of course I dare not say like that. I just keep quiet. And then she said, "Just remember to say Yes next time if you bring them in again next time. Welcome home." The last phrase "welcome home" is really warm... But then I got home and realized our passports are not stamped. I am very very worried she forgot to stamp, but I can't do anything now. Wait see how next time. They always surprises us with the mistake they make. Don't make me start on the income tax mistakes they made last year.... Think of it also make me older by 2 years.... sigh...

I need summer to cheer me  up!!!!!! My brother is getting married in May in San Frans, so that's something I look forward to.

ngiaooooooooooooooooooo

p/s: on a happy note - I bought a new Lumix camera. yay!! And I was planning to declare it but it was not asked for. Hmm.................... why why why??

We went to landlord house to pass him some cheques last week, he made me strawberry banana smoothies, from the blender he just bought! So easy. and the smoothies taste good!!!

So I went home and keep thinking about this...

Finally, I went to The Bay and got myself a blender yesterday. It was a $109 blender, from Gordon Ramsay (the Hell's kitchen chef leh?). I was prepared to pay this price, as the Kitchenaid is selling at $189, so I thought I have a good deal, consider that this blender from Ramsay is even easier to remove the motor and clean it.

At the cashier, the bill came to $50 something. I said huh?? Oh, I didn't know it was on 50% discount! wah... so happy lah =) hohohoho... Jay wasn't too happy because he has to carry the thing home, it was heavy lah (even though the mall is just in front of our house)... but I promised I will make him a good smoothie. hehehe..

Then I bought strawberry and milk just now. It is not a strawberry season now, so it is a bit pricey and small and not very red. Sigh... what to do... so I text Jay, "save a banana for me, I am going to make strawberry banana smoothie tonight!". He replied, "I finished the last one this morning...."... What the.... aiyoh!!!!!!! Normally our house has abundant banana one!!!!!!!!!! (he loves to eat, I also like to eat). The day I most needed the banana he told me he finished the last one:( Sigh...

Now I am like a basketball, except the air was let out... very 泄气neh!! Now I have to just make strawberry smoothie.... without banana the texture won't be the same... and then the sweetness also won't be the same... eeeeeeeeee.....

:< why why why~~~~~~~

I bought a pack of

hmmm...

I planned to 包饺子 this weekend.

We had been addicted to eat jiaozi ever since we saw one it was selling at a supermarket. Frozen one. 28 pieces at $6.88. Then I tell bui for $6.88 I can buy 3 lbs of minced meat and make many many many jiaozi loh... so he dared me, "then u do it lah, since we both love to eat".

Haha... stay tune... will share the success/failure soon~~~~

p/s: every time I eat jiaozi, I think of my dad. The memory was so fond when dad and mom bao jiaozi at home. Yummy...

#$%^@#!#$%!#%!@##%^&&&&&

What I am experiencing in Canada now, is very much like my first year in China - frustration, shocked, surprised, helpless.

You know Fedex, some company in Toronto is sending a cheque to my boss by courier. Actually, I also don't know why they want to use courier, regular mail would have reached us in 5 business days anyway.

So anyway, they sent out on Nov 10. Should have reached us on Nov 11.

I don't know which idiot, put in wrong address, so delivery cannot be made due to incorrect address. That was on Nov 14. Then I let the other party know, because she is the sender. She only gave me the tracking number to track it. Hallo... you sent it leh, shouldn't you be tracking and let us know the status? Instead, she asked me call 1800. Fine. That was yesterday, Nov 21. I didn't call last week because I thought she was dealing with it. Only yesterday that I find it 忍无可忍, I tracked it and I called and I solved it (well, at least I thought I solved the issue). Apparently they have the wrong street address. Anyway, happily waiting for the cheque today so I can bank it in for my boss so I don't have to hari hari go bank. Well, guess what, the status is still "incorrect address". I api pun ada. Called 1800 and it is an acha, speaking acha english (@#$%!) and I scolded her how can  you still have incorrect address? She got the guts to say this to me, "it is due to lack of buzzer information". I said I read online it says "incorrect address". She said there's a second line says "lack of buzzer info". I said I could not see your SECOND line!!!!!!! I told her I never have ANY issue with ANY courier company, they don't need buzzer they just come right in, the door is not locked, it is a commercial building, come in, take the lift to 3rd floor!!!!! She said, "ok, let me write down?". After like dunno how many seconds, she said, "you said you are on 3rd floor?" Wah I tell you, my api goes to roof already. I told her, "THE ADDRESS SAYS unit 310!!!! YES, 3rd FLOOR!!!!!!"

Blardy hell.... I black list Fedex already.

I black listed DHL before too... they got the guts to tell us we not at home on their 2 times delivery. We said we are at home. THey said  no body answered the door. At the end, I caught the uncle DHL guy (acha again) coincidently, he was ringing 50X instaed of 50Y. @#$%!!!!!@#$%!!@$#$!#!%@$@#$!!!

And then UPS once put the package outside the door, did not sign. Just leave the package out there.

I missed China kuaid systems. They never fail me in that so many years.

I think I officially hate Canada.

Busted

She's 92

Saw my neighbor Dave in the lift yesterday. He was so nice, holding up the lift so I can have time to get mail from the mailbox.

In the lift, he told me his mother just passed away today. I thought I hear wrongly... I repeated, "your mother??". He said she's at Ottawa. I told him I was sorry... He smiled and said she's 92.

92??!!! Then I don't feel sorry at all. Hey, your mom outlived my dad for more than 1/4 of the century ok!

He didn't look sad at all... or he has not have time to reflect to the news? I don't know... Even if my mom live til 200 years old and if I know she passed away, I will be really really really sad.

One thing I find guai lou here, they not close to their parents at all... parents died, just die loh. No big deal.

:-( Why so different one?

What?!

Today, two things I discovered and my face was like the attached picture...

1) I owned some US stock, and they paid out some gei mun gai dividend. There's a 30% withholding tax on dividend because I am not US citizen. But because it is really gei-mun-gai, I bochap and tak hirau. Today I got some time and I googled and realized I should be paying 15% instead of 30%!! Apparently I missed filling in some form. W-8BEN. Wholly Mama.... I have received 4 times of dividend already and now only I realize this huge discovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2) I Live Chat with an agent on my brokerage firm. Told him the situation. He said normally they won't missed asking client to fill in the form. But since damage has been made, he offers me a $2.50 rebate. I told him I don't think it is fair. I have been paid 4 times of dividend this year.. the difference is more than $2.50 (more like $3 something actually). Then the agent said he will rebate me with $4.95. This is the second time I have the startled expression... wah.... good wor... 做错就认,unlike in China, this kind of situation, the agent sure aji ajo one.

So I filled in that form and send it back to Ontario.. Hopefully my next dividend will be withhold at only 15%. Finger-crossed...

放荡

又一则笑话,directed by Bui Bui.

ok, 2, actually.

1st.
Oh my Bui...

2nd
Oh mama....

Oops, I did it again...

Last week already saw the VPL (Vancouver Public Library) got the notice big big outside the building, Book Sale Oct 27-30. I told myself "ignore it!"

But then, this whole week I am counting down to Oct 27th. Yesterday, I curi-curi happy a while, because tomorrow is going to be Oct 27th (which is today).

After lunch, I grabbed my bag, and crossed the street to VPL. Boss said he aint coming back to office today because he has meetings, so, I have unlimited time to spend at VPL!!! hohohohoh.... so happy...  Went there at 1.30pm... by 3.30pm, my back was very very sore.. coz I took so many books with me, and my bag, inside just got wallet only, but still got some weight, so my shoulder and back are sore from holding bag and books.... If not because of this, I would have stayed longer and bought more!

I wanted to see more, but beh tahan my hands... so, I have to come back to office. $15.25 is the price for all of them. I only picked the new looking books, and I saw so many of the books I bought on kindle, they are there too, new looking, and so cheap! I regretted. But well, at least I know there are some of my taste books selling at VPL, which is not bad. hehehe..

Shoulders still sore... I need a massage. I told bui what I did... his replied was "how you gonna bring home?".... I guess I have to drive to work one of these days to bring the baby back.

But I do make mistakes. Some books I bought before, which I thought was good to read but turned out other wise, I am thinking to donate them out.... to clear some of the shelf space for my newbie... I told Bui the bookshelf we bought before is too small, he no listen. Maybe I will sell the bookshelf and get a new bigger one next time, when our new house is ready.

While I was choosing the books, because the books are getting higher and higher, and I kept having to keep moving to the side because I am blocking people, then I suddenly found I'm missing one of the book that I selected. I panicked, I make rounds and rounds of where had I been moments ago, and I thought I will never see it again, but my eyes are good, I spotted it lying in between the other books! Hahaha... happy.

I will go tomorrow again... Shh... don't tell Bui. :p

Pontianak!!

We were talking nonsense one night. And I forgot how we get to the below conversation:

Me: "I dare you, there's no malay words you know, that I don't know."
Bui: "oh yah? Let's see..."
Me waiting patiently...
Bui: "... er... hahaahaha... I know this one you sure don't know one. This is a very difficult malay word oh!"
Me very curious...
Bui: "you sure you want this test?"
Me is very impatient already.... fists were ready... hmm.. hmm... hmm...
Bui: " PONTIANAK!"
..................... what the...

Bui actually think pontianak is a very difficult malay word.... I was trying to hold my laughter, but I failed...

Hahahahahahaahahahhaa.....

And he still dare to test me! He said he don't believe I know the meaning. I told him it is "vampire".

Bui has the most defeated look on his face... he turn around and sleep with his back facing me.
=_="

But I actually am very surprised he know this word. "Pontianak" is sure a very high level malay word for my Bui... no wonder he feels I won't know this word. Hahahahhahaha. Imagine, he doesn't know those common words like tunai, najis, etc etc leh...

He very ng dai duk... he still wants to dare me.
Bui :"what do you call sunny side up egg?"
Me :"mata kerbau lah!" (I think I am right... but I know what he says next is definitely not how you call sunny side up egg loh!!!!)
Bui :"oh yah? Listen up babe. I called it "matahari telur" one time at mamak, and I was given a very ridiculous stare from that an neh neh"
At that point... I really cannot tahan liao... what the.... aiyoh!!!

My Bui.....

I squeezed toothpaste from middle

Bui said I squeezed toothpaste from middle. He asked me why. I am surprised. No one ever told me that. Not my sis and brother where we obviously shared a toothpaste when we were young and stay with parents. So I make some effort to observe myself when I squeezed the toothpaste. I definitely don't like to squeeze it from the bottom. hahahaa... I think it is because middle is so 就手. hehehe.

So, do you squeeze toothpaste from middle or from the bottom? Not from the top gua I hope:p

Elfin Lakes

Elfin Lakes!

So beautiful... no words to describe the feeling

Doesn't it look like Sounds of Music?:)

See the biker?

spiky snow leaves

Summer was officially over two weeks ago, but winter is not here yet, we are in Fall. It was rainy for the past 2 weeks. But we saw the weather forecast said the last weekend was sunny!!!! WOW!!! 机不可失, one of the couple we know said they are going to Elfin Lakes at Squamish, so we said we will join. So, 5 of us, woke up very very early on Saturday (which is very difficult for bui and I), and started the journey.

From our place to Squamish is about 1 hour drive. Then from the highway, there's a half an hour unpaved road and gravel road to drive up to the parking lot, before we start the 22km journey (11km each way), by foot. We started at 10am from the entrance at parking lot, all pumped up and energetic, even feed the bird with part of our lunch half way through. And we reached parking lot at 6pm, almost half-dead, drained, and just want to go home. Have you seen people walking with auto-pilot mode? That's me... just one mission in my mind on the return journey, "reach car park!" hahaa... We don't feel strenous going forth. But we feel extremely strenous coming back. Don't know why...  But let me tell you one thing, the strenous hike is worth it!! Look at the lakes!!!! So beautiful! We didn't expect there's snow up in the mountain, but look! Amazing view!:) And what's more amazing is, there are people biking up there!! The elevation is 1200m (we, by foot). Imagine these bikers... the roads are not smooth, there are uphills, downhills, rocky hills, and snowy hills. Very challenging on foot, what's more on bike!

I think my limit is 6 hours of hike per day. Anything more than that, it had better be a very amazing view to tempt me to go. haha...

Our friend said she wants to go for anotehr hike again this Sunday.. hmm.... let's check weather forecast:)

女士们,如果你们的男人没有刻骨铭心的求婚,不要随意答应,多年后,it will come back to haunt you.

"I am eating Bao at shenzhen, 20 hours ago"

看到很多人去某某地方,甚至是去个餐厅也post location at facebook, post picture of you in the restaurant is OK, but post the location like "xxx am at Tropika Restaurant, 20 hours ago" 就很那个,弄得很没有私隐,然后有一些人本来没有很多动作在facebook的,突然间生了baby,就天天post 她baby的照片,拜托,这个世界上,除了你的小孩,还有很多很有趣的新闻的ok?!

Jokes

I come across this joke before, but everytime i read it, it is so funny. I am sharing it on my blog now. hahaha...

A store that sells “New Husbands” has opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increases as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 -  These men Have Jobs
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 2 -  These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.
'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.' So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 -  These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.
'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 -  These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help with Housework.
'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!' Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5 -  These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 6 -  You are visitor number 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor.
This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please!!!

Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
(scroll and keep reading!)

.....

To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a “New Wives Store”
just across the street.

The 1st Floor has wives that love sex.

The 2nd, 3rd, 4th,5th and 6th floor have never been visited.

The Scent of Woman

At my age, I didn't know I still can get so hooked up at watching the korean drama series. I am recently watching this (no.... I finished it last night actually, haha), in english name it is called "The scent of Woman 女人的香气". So nice to watch.... there's laughters and also tears in each episode. I cried like watching 大常今 last time. Jay hates it when I watched movie and cried, he said it is not healthy. But I find it very healthy... got laugh must also balance with tears ger mah, right? hahaa... sometimes I will exclaimed out loud, "where on earth can there be such good drama series like this one???!!! wah..................."

The man is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo handsome in this movie... I really love him!! arrgghhh.... hahahaha... and I thought only girls at age 18+ are like that. I am not normal I guess... :P The part he took off his shirt showering and show the six packs, wahhhhhh..... I asked J come and look at his six packs.  But Jay is not even a bit of jealous wor... he is very full of himself. I told him if the man in this movie come and kao me, he might have a marriage crisis. He laughed... yiu... slap him.

The story line is very moving... but a bit unrealistic lah... you watch you will know. But hey, the handsome man part can offset this part easily. hahaha....

What's next?;)

By the way, I am so busy lately... at work. So many companies under my jurisdiction is having year-end... have to prepare this and that. Even have to yeng chao by having lunch with accountant. But good also. Today is the first time I met one of the accountant that I always spoke with on the phone. He looks like one of my friend in Shanghai (Winston) though... haha..

My eyes are so tired lately... of course lah, hari hari after work my eyes glued to tv for 4 hours... wah....  must rest liao now that I finished this series. I don't know what's it called in Korean tim.... hmm....

I love korean drama series!!!!! My next target is, 公主的男人, korean drama series too!! Hooray~~~~ more tears and laughters to come! But not these few nights, let the eyes rest rest first.

"Why my Third Husband Will be a Dog"

Why My Third Husband Will Be A Dog: The Amazing Adventures of an Ordinary Woman
I was strolling aimlessly with bui at Chapters few weeks ago, and saw this book. Chapters is a book store that is located just within 200m from my house. In fact, the biggest mall in this city is located within 200m from our house.  hahaha... love it.

Anyway, there are many short entries in this book, and they are so hilariously funny. First of all, who will think of such a title for a book??? and it was on sale, original price was 24.90, on sale for only 6.99. So damn cheap. So I bought.

Turns out there is no single entry about the title!!!! phff... what the... but then, the author Lisa Scottoline is so funny, she described her 1st ex husband as Thing One, and 2nd ex husband as Thing Two. Hahahahhaa... Who will call their husband as "Thing"? I love her writing style:) I finished reading already loh... feel so sad, the fun is over:(

Besides the humourous side, she does have the sentimental part... talk about how as a mom, you feel happy that your child grew up, graduated, and left the city, and yet you feel so sad that they are slowing leaving you from the first second they were born. I am not a mother (yet, haha), but I can sort of relate this feeling from the way my parents expressed their love. Parental love is the most unselfish love on the earth. Yes!

OK... if it gets sold in KL, try to find this book to read. Very very funny, and yet warm. Have I told you she has 3 dogs (or 4??), 2 cats, and some chickens as pet... Yes, you heard me right, chicken.... the way she described her chicken is also damn funny....

I just hope she writes about the title "why my third husband will be a dog". This remains a mystery!

Eat healthily

I have a close colleague, he is going to have a heart surgery next Wednesday. He has 9 blockage on his heart arteries.. he is having a high chance of going into stroke if he does not go through surgery soon. The doctor at first wanted to just balloned out his blocked artery. It was in that process that they discovered he has 9 blockage (each is about 70-90% blocked), that they can't just do balooning, they have to do surgery. He was put on priority list, even that, he has to wait for 10 days later only can do the surgery, which will last for 7 hours... I guess it is a big surgery?

I wish he is alright... He is only 54... he didn't even have strength to talk to me on phone. We just rely on text messages to update each other. He is a good man. I hope he will survive this surgery with little or no damage.

I went to visit him at hospital over the weekend with Jay. Seeing he is hooked up with the heart reading equipment, makes me think of my dad again....

Lesson here is, eat healthy food. Do not hari-hari starbucks with 3 packs of sugar and 2 packs of milk. Do not A&W every week even though it is just around the corner downstairs our office.  All these will come back to haunt you when you get older. Guaranteed!

Get well soon my friend!
