KFC drive thru

Bui has been tempting me about KFC for quite a while. Last we had KFC was in Dec 2012. According to the "Law of Law" (my last name is Law. hahahaa), we should only have KFC once a year. But Bui has become impatient since February... I was doing quite good for holding him off for another 2 months, until last night.

He picked me up from skytrain station last night. After our car reached our carpark, parked, I turned to him and asked, "have you cooked tonight?". He answered "only rice. Not cooked dishes yet. So busy.". So I surprised him "what do you say if we go for KFC tonight?". Wah I tell you ah, his eyes got lights up immediately, he was like a kid, almost jumping from the floor and rushed back to the car!!! I seriously don't know why KFC has such a big influence on guys. So we drive to the one nearby our house, and to the drive through way.

Actually, drive through always makes me nervous. It's like I have to order something when the car is in front of the board, and the board has so many choices, it is really a gun cheong moment!!! I don't know about you all, but to me it is! Sigh.

So, from 2 cars away, we were squinting our eyes and looking at the "bucket" deal (KFC with Bui is always bucket, don't even wish for normal meal 2-3 pieces ok). And we can't decide which one yet and the car in front of us only spent few seconds to order and he zoomed past. Makes us so gun cheong. As our car slowly pulled up to the drive through order window, we still haven't decided. Finally I said, let's choose that 8 pc bucket deal.

So Bui ordered, "8 pc bucket deal". Then I told him (in low voice of course), chicken wing or popcorn chicken. And he go and repeat my words, word for word at that window "With Chicken Wing or Popcorn Chicken". I nearly fainted. I beh tahan already, in normal voice tone, you have to choose!!!!!!!! Then Bui become gun cheong, "choose what?" I said "chicken wing or popcorn chicken". Then he confused "yah lah, chicken wing or popcorn chicken la". I almost want to kaboom... I think the woman beside the order window sure laugh die till stomachache. At the end, she chose for us, no, for him. She chose for him. Popcorn Chicken.

When I scolded him later, he some more scold me back, "You confused me."

Hallo... the board so big there lah.... it says "either or"...

Speechless.. Help~~~~~~~~~~

Because of this incident, I told myself, next KFC drive thru die die also has to be Aril 10, 2014!!!!!!!! Don't care and won't give in >_<"

Roller coaster

After celebrating 3 days gong xi fa cai with frens and Bui, eat eat eat, sleep sleep sleep, I returned to work with a half-empty mind, and dead body, with a sore throat.

Finally, finished the day at 5.30pm. Went home, and there's a letter from school on my table.

Suddenly dead body revived. So excited!!! Apparently I am the highest mark in the provincial of BC!!! Hoooray~~~~~~~

Can't stop laughing, like kena lottery... hahahaaahhahhaa...

Then I checked, there's only 57 people sitting for the exam in the province of BC for that session. Cheh... not that geng jeh...

Suddenly don't feel excited anymore...

Continue to my boring life.

I haven't registered for the next course. I don't know if it is worth it to be so suffering. What do you think??

The leftover yam

Bui keep reminding me there's another half of the yam sitting in the fridge. He wants me to "do something" about it.

I was thinking about making another yam cake, now that my hand's muscles has recovered totally. haha...

But... but... I want to challenge myself. I want to do yam bread!

芋头糕

The work started at 4.30pm.

Cut the 虾米 into tiny pieces (but next time I will make the piece bigger, no need to cut too small, too small until I can't really taste it is also no fun), and also 蒜头，葱头，put some 五香粉, salt, pepper, and also 粘面粉, water, and then 不停的翻动在锅里，until the yam becomes totally "melted"... and then steam!

by the time I finished, it's like 6.30pm++.... so tired.... I keep steaming and steaming, because the yam feels so soft and sticky still when I used the fork to duk it. But little did I know, once it is cooled down, it will be hardened. The recipe should say so mah... I think I steamed it for 1.5 hours. But I think actualy max 40 min is enough.

And have to do the toppings... topping is very important according to Bui. He kept taking my toppings, I told him I only make this much, he needs to ration it. hahaha...

Ok ok, here's the total picture of how it looks like.

This is the topping..., ingredient is 菜脯粒(the one u used to fried eggs), 虾米 again (needs to cut tiny pieces again), samba sauce, and fried them all together. A bit too salty this time, next time I will not put salt at all because I forgot the caipu is salty already.

If my papa is still around, he will be so proud of my yam dish... whenever I eat this dish, I thought of him. This is is favorite dish.

I still have another half of the yam at fridge. Bui kept saying we should do it again. But I tell him I need to recoup from the n ightmare of cutting those little stuff first.... so tiring!

Bui finished all my yam cake within 24 hours! :D

Pre-CNY dinner

Well, we are hosting a pre-CNY dinner on Feb 9, for a group of 6 (including us).

I haven't had a clue what to make as meal....

Can you see I don't sound enthusiastically?? Not that I don't like to host, but the initiative is not by us... one of the friend lah, she wanted so much of this dinner, but she is sharing the apartment with her housemate, so she can't host it, and ask us.

How to say no leh? If our apartment is a BIG HOUSE, with long table, fire place, big kitchen, I really don't mind... but our apartment is so small... But I am the type that not good at saying NO... bad for me I know...

OK, let's get the positive energy together, can you tell me what should I make for a group of 6, with CNY symbols? :)

I am definitely making the shuijiao. Made 2 plates last weekend (counted, it was 46 pcs), and happy with the result. Yummy... I had minced meat, 韭菜 (hate cutting it small small piece though), mushroom, prawns, a bit of 酱油, 盐, that's it. For the source I have 麻油，醋，酱油. Bui loves the source made by me. I love it too. hahaa... If he made the source, the taste is very awkwardly different but he has all the ingredients right. Really don't know why... We ate 1 plate, and froze the other plate for next consumption. :p

I want to attempt making the 芋头糕, although this has nothing to do with CNY, just something I saw online (recipe) and want to try making again. I made one in 2010, BIG FAILURE that time. But the recipe this time is a bit different... so... Must try again this weekend. hahaha...

Please give me some ideas what you guys eating at CNY... I can't remember what we ate differently but sometimes my mom will cook 海参 (which I don't know to cook......:(( sigh), duck, prawns (this I can make, learnt 奶油虾 from my mom this trip, but need to find curry leaves?), fish, and a soup (I can make 咸菜鱼片汤？). But sound so plain hor if I make like this.... ideas?

95.5!!!!!

WHOLLY MAMA!!!!!!!

Exam mark is out!!!!!!!!! I have 95.5 for final exam, and 92.5 for overall final course mark!

WAaaaaaaa...........................

I thought I would score marginally like 70+ for final because that final exam is really very difficult... it's a make or break situation... I never expect something like 95.5!!!!!!

When I login to see my score just now, I half close my eyes.... dare not open both eyes to see... so silly. hehehehhe:)

I finally decided to dump that stupid Ikea new alarm clock, and get a Sony one (after taking advice from Jennifer. Yah, what's wrong with waking up to radio?).

OK, it's a big box (compared to my old buddy), but the snooze button is so much easier to reach and so much bigger that you can't miss even with your 5% stage of mind presence, and the clock is is auto-timed after you plug in the electricity and choose the time zone! So geng. It does not even come with an instruction sheet because it is so common sense.

The Snoooze, can even choose 10 min, 20 min, up to 60 min. Hahaha... But I do hope it has a 5-min option, then I can snooze more times. hehe...

Bui said the radio is too loud, even though I turned it very very very low. The first time when it goes on, I don't even realize... I was sleeping like a pig.

I am such not a morning person!!

Bui love to cook one dish, it is a dish of all time favorite of both of us. Celery fried with fishball.

I love fishball!

Last night, Bui make this dish again. And he also make steam chicken wing with mushroom, my another favorite dish. So, I was enjoying the chicken wing, and haven't got time to eat the celery fishball dish.

When I finally realized I "forgot" about the fishball, and I went to the dish to scoop up the fishball, they were all gone!!!!!!

>.< Totally gone!!!!!!!! Only celery were left behind. There were like 8 fishball just 5 min ago.

I asked with shocking voice, "Where are the fishballs????"

Bui, "Huh?..." He some more use his spoon to search for me.

Then he replied with a tak apa-apa look, "Aiyoh, next time eat faster lah!"

Alarm Clock

After enduring my choh-loh usage, my dear alarm clock has been certified dead.

Sigh...

This alarm clock has served me from Shanghai of 5 years to the first two years in Vancouver. I bought it from Ikea at Shanghai. It looks like this: http://olioboard.com/items/5312-ikea-ticka-alarm-clock-white

Sweet right?

This alarm clock has character. Like if you want it snoozed, you just have to place your hand lightly on it. And it stopped ringing and snoozed for 5 min. I am not sure if it is just my unit, or every unit is like that. Because it doesn't function in this way when I first bought it.

But, sometimes it will give you surprises. You snooze it for like 5 or 6 7 times, it will stop bothering you. And when you become conscious again, you feel like killing it, throwing it down the window and smash it to the smallest pieces you can because by then you are freaking scarily late at that moment!!

So, this has been a love-hate relationship... for quite a number years. Until it stopped ticking last month... I first thought it is battery issue. I changed battery, it ticked for a few hours, and it stopped again.

So... there goes my buddy:(

I shopped at Ikea here, they do not sell this anymore. Yes, I am such a boring person. I want the same alarm clock. I was sad, frustrated, and I have been relying on my iPhone for waking me up for the last many many many days. I hate it. It's not supposed to be an alarm clock of course....

I shopped at local stores here. The alarm clock is either very HUGE like a box (because there's radio function in most of them), or it is very very very sibeh boring like those you can find from pasar malam when you are a kid (I say this because I haven't stepped foot in pasar malam for the last 10 years I think). So, I am so out of option here..:(((

And I wanted to return it. The button for snooze and stop is too near to each other, at the back of the clock and the design makes you confused which is which especially when you are only 5% awake... and the alarm clock sound is too boring, too loud, and too hard. Not mellow. Like when you hear it, it makes you feel gun cheong, blood pressure rise especially when you have to make yourself awake enough to figure out which button is snooze, and which button is stop.

ARRRRrrrrrghhhhhhhh....

I will never find 'my' alarm clock :(

What kind of alarm clock you guys using??? Give me some idea please... I am so sick of shopping for alarm clock :(((

What a devastating experience. And why all alarm clocks are either functionally too complicated with radio, iPhone plug, dual alarm functions, big in size, or too boring like those 20 years ago alarm clock type??  And why when we purchase alarm clock, we cannot test sound the alarm sound?? To all alarm clock manufacturer out there, can you please don't make your alarm sound so harsh and so blood pumping and so loud? :(((

Samba-Samba

A very great great friend of ours, insisted to give us snacks and coffee and wants to make our luggage full.

The snack he and his wife bought for us, is same series as tam-tam. It's called samba-samba.

IT TASTE SO FREAKING GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

So tasty I tell u. Spicy... crispy.... I don't know how to tell u, after I tasted this, I don't even want to eat tam-tam. Tam-tam is lousy.

I so wanted to show you its packaging, but stupid blogspot/google now disallow me to upload photo from my computer drive, unless I update it to picasa or google drive or something else... @#$%! what the...

Anyway, look for it, samba-samba snack, it's under the brand 'snek ku'!

Bui and I finished them in our first week back to Vancouver... It is that good!

On a separate note, Bui still can't remember our apartment buzzer number, after we have moved in for more than 6 months and after I have told him the number in like 10 different times... arrghhhhhhhhhh...How is it that my 火爆性格 can match his "tak apa apa" 性格？We are really from opposite poles! >..<

First post in 2013, and I am ranting again...

So over ate at Malaysia. 3 wedding dinners... many gathering meals, and many many local foods. Burp~~~

How I miss panmee, dailookmeen, crabbies, daichao, roti prata, nasi lemak, meesiam again....

Now back to this lousy place. Sigh... to top it off, here's what tick me off today:

Boss has a $300 home insurance payment to make. They accept credit card and cheque. The insurance company is a very well-known company, not those ABC mamak style company. He asked me if he can use my credit card to pay for this, and he will write me a cheque back.

Reason? His credit card has a $50,000 limit. He does not want people to misuse.

I said my lowest credit card is also $2,000 (I mean if people misuse mine, $2000 is a lot to me!). He replied, "your $2000 is nothing compared to my $50,000".

I hate him so much!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course I am not using my credit card to pay for his home insurance. What the hell??? Your card is a card, my card is not a card lah.

If let me have it all in one day, I will want to slap him left and right, and right to left again!!

Are all rich people so hak yan zhang?????

剪不断，理还乱

终于尝到什么叫做“剪不断，理还乱”。

今天打去中国，取消掉我手上的主卡和附属卡。心如刀割。

2年前，总是想到可能有一天要回中国。现在看看希望渺茫。那时候手上有4张信用卡。后来去年取消掉1张。这几天想了一想，还是取消掉其他的吧。明年就要唱加拿大国歌了，还回中国么？

实在想念上海的一切。给陈立辉批死，他曾说过，“你不要这样讨厌中国，总有一天你离开了你会后悔的。” Well, 给他讲对了，TMD!

想念中国的方便（我刚刚放下电话，上网登陆，那些卡已没有了！就像不曾存在过！），先进，食物多元化，要看山有山，要看水有水，旅游极其方便又便宜。要去日本香港韩国还方便过回马来西亚，要国货有国货，要舶来货也行，要淘宝就淘宝，要打车就打车，要地铁就有地铁。唉。我真是错过国宝了！：（

感触良多。有点伤感。

下一个要解决的东西是马来西亚的信用卡！每年给那个他妈的$50 government service tax 不知道为了什么？？？？ 犯贱！为什么马来西亚的那些国企和外来的银行不会say no？？

A season of giving and receiving

I read some posting on FB these two days, and two news posts really caught my eyes and heart (nowadays, I get most of the local news feeds from facebook... the world has really changed):

想到就心跳很快。

考完了我就可以轻松看电视，看书，看杂志，发白日梦！呵呵！想想就很开心了:D

切苹果一记

昨天bui叫我切苹果给他吃，他有时候会deh bao，不过讲起切水果，他是从来不做的。除了我生大病的一次。

不知怎么的，我竟然切到自己的手指！很深。Bui 看到后，心疼的帮我包扎。我自己倒不觉得什么，就是觉得心跳的很快，大概血液都往外流吧。呵呵，其实伤口很小，但是有一点深。

Bui竟然跟我说以后都不要我切水果了。害我开心了1秒，他接着说，“以后我们喝orange juice & apple juice 就好了。”

真的给他咋到！我的表情：-_-"

我老板真得很变态

我老板真得很变态。

他孩子的事，大过天。太保护孩子了，太令我鄙视他们。什么东西都做好好给他们，他们简直像disabled person 一样。申请大学的表格，也要帮他们寄（还不是我寄），还要限制多少天要到。我想想以前都是我自己一手操办的，有什么难的？这样也不会做，不是disabled 是什么？？

他老婆的信用卡，多了一块钱的itunes 费用，老婆坚持说没有用过。他把单丢给我，叫我investigate. 很好。自己的credit card information, 情愿给我知道，也不要自己解决。我已经时常扮他老婆打电话做这个做那个的了。一查之下，是他儿子用的，忘了告诉他。

‘肥鲁豫’

我把凌乱的长发（也不是很长啦，shoulder length）给剪了，回来的路上觉得脖子很冷，有一点后悔。

从来没有流过长发。小时候妈妈说我很会出汗，就没有给我留。后来进了独中，也不给留长发。在后来出来读大学，没有留，习惯短发。后来遇到Bui, 更死，他讨厌长发女人，说头发太长会弄到他的脸，很geli, wtf... hahah... 我留到shoulder length 时，他已经天天叫我“贞子”，那个日本长发女鬼啦。给他za到。现在我剪了头发，猜猜我的新花名是什么？

看看又有点像。哈哈。不过Bui 在前面放了给‘肥’字。他说我脸比鲁豫肥。@#$%!!

其实是我楼下的邻居先说我像鲁豫的（剪头发前就这样说了）。他们来自中国，太原？I can't really remember. hahaaha...

我倒不喜欢这个头发。每一次剪头发都让我失望。那个look永远一样的，只是长短不一样。真闷！

3 more weeks

Final exam is in exactly 3 weeks time!!!

I totally cannot remember much anything before chapter 6... so I have to start revising them... one by one...

Very stressed out!

I have also decided to take a break from next semester, which starts in early Dec to late March of 2013. I don't want to stress out for my precious KL trip + sis wedding + yum yum food session. hahahaha... and I think I want to have two sessions of snowboarding from Jan to Mar !!! Hoo~~~ Hoo~~~ Hooray~~~~~~~~ ^_^'

Walking dead

Walking dead new series is out!!! Hahaha.. I am on episode 3.

Sometimes, I will picture myself live in those time, where 99% of the people are affected by virus, beaten by walking dead, and turned into un-dead walking dead (unless u slammed its head and crushed it) lah. So I asked Bui the other night.

Me, "If I am beaten and turned into a smelly walking corpse, what are you doing to do?"
[My Bui is really hygene... sometimes I beh tahan... like if I wear my same pyjamas for two nights, he will aji ajo there said got smell. HELLLOOOO, here so cold ah, how to sweat, some more at night I only wear few hours leh, how to got smell????!!! Yiu...]

Bui, "Hmm... I will stand still and let u bite me."

Me, "Then you mah turn to walking corpse too??

Bui, "Yes. hahahahahhaa..."

Me, "OK... but you are too fat to qualify to be a walking corpse! hahahahhaa"

Anyway, I damn pity those walking corpse. Their mind are all gone, they are set as auto-mode to bite people only... so pity them...:(If I am living at that time like those actors in the movie, I will purpose let the dead bite me in the very early stage. Why torture yourself running from 99% walking dead while you can easily join them  and no need to be troubled by your memory, your worries, your 烦恼?

Boss is away from the country for 2 weeks!!!

I am not religious.. but hell, HALLELUJAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Hope" his schedule not impacted by the weather. The Sandy storm has been so bad and hit New York for the past 2 days, that stock market has to be closed, for two days.
