i don't know what "cipet" means, so i checked it out on the internet. this is what i got: CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF PLASTICS ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY... and there are more. but what exactly does it mean?

deisy, i spent one month in shanghai in 1997 & 1998 respectively, lost my wallet there when i went for a meeting in 2003, almost could not fly back to singapore, had my backpacking in southwest china for two months... i always looked forward to going back there...

aiyah, each time i read about your complaints, my heart ached...

At first, I felt slightly irritated by Smileyface's preaching style of comment, but then I realize Smileyface is right. I've been very unhappy, but once I treat myself as a tourist, a passerby, frustrating things become mere memorabilia, things to laugh at.

Judging by the locales and the choice of words, I hereby unravel the mysterious identity of Smileyface: Siew Wai.

Deisy, I notice that, ppl like cipet lan hao blog, see, look at the list of the comment you receive ! unbelieveable. And I like the "CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF PLASTICS ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY" - CEPET .

I agree with Smileyface...

Elizebeth D.L. said...

I also think the smiley face is siew wai. Haha...

You lost your wallet you still feel happy, and you kena cheated by the medicine guy in china, you remembered or not? So, still fun meh?

Anyway, today I good mood. coz no one pushed me with their steaky arm in the subway today. Ha!

I want to re-state my position here: I like the history of China, and the great great huang-di (though most of them die pathetically) in the past and all the historic building. But I don't like how they behave themselves in the public, (and I don't even want to imagine how they behave at home), and also how they think Japanese is lousy, Korean is useless, and American is selfish (they really think like this, I swear).

cipet...
ci = 屎
pet = just to let it rhyme.

I dunno got this word or not, but I feel happy using this word to describe the cipet uncle cheena here.

Unknown said...

Deisy.. are you serious??

Why are you wrongly discript what Cipet is..

hahahah

非舞者. oppps, i didn't mean to "preach". just sharing my experience as a 过来人. maybe i remained silence for too long, so when i decided to leave my comments, it sounded like "preaching". too bad, it irritated you. haha.

you know, whenever you were complaining about the place that you are living in, my heart ached also (though i have not been there before). haha. 真的。why do we always choose to think that way to make our lifes more miserable? we will miss a lot of fun. oppps, it sounds like preaching again... ok, ok... *zip my mouth.

btw, i used ":)" as my displayed name for my msn messenger. thought you all would know who i am.

steviee_boy, you agreed with me:
1) 心痛? or
2) 看开点?

deisy, u reminded me that i was being cheated... just learn from it loh, why 耿耿于怀?

after all, this is our choice.

"the preacher"... (haha!)

One thing I like about the Dutch is that they let you be yourself. I've been complaining loudly about this country yet my Dutch friend didn't bother to ask me to leave, or ask me to pretend to be happy. There are many kinds of people in the world. Some pretend they have never had a bad day, self-delusion works for them. Some prefer venting their frustration, after which they will feel better. Deisy belongs to this category. So do I.

Apply the medicine according to the illness. Let oneself be oneself. I always think self-enlightenment works best.

Elizebeth D.L. said...

Haha... both "Law"s like to vent out the frustration, and hate ball-less people who asked us to leave this country whenever we complaint.

Hooray!!! Old Law Wan Sui~~~ thanks for your explanation :)

Anonymous said...

ball-less? deisy, i can't agree with your choice of words. isn't it uncivilised as well? or maybe you have different interpretation...

cipet. i believe it is 死老爸 in hokkien, meaning "extremely" in general. i got to know about it from my singaporean friend.

Anonymous said...

oh, old law. i totally agree that everyone has the right to vent their frustration the way they like. however, i personally think that if in the process it affects others' feeling, then it is not just our own business.

i didn't ask you to pretend. i was just pointing out
that it is the matter of differnet perception, and suggesting to take it easy... no offence.

life itself is somehow already unbearable...

ok. i shall end this topic now.

Unknown said...

Oh My gawd... Cipet is sei lor tao??? Oh My gowdd..

Elizebeth D.L. said...

though you said you gonna end the topic here, but...

I believe -- our expression, if affecting other people's feeling, the effect won't be as bad as people's behavior affecting our feeling bah?

No offence, but this is what I feel.

ball-less and cipet is just my choice of words to vent out my frustration at that point of time. ball-less means 窝囊废, and my cipet meaning is just means 死人头。Period. nothing more.

sometimes 'cipet' could mean 'cunt'. Have fun!

Anonymous said...

I always thought cipet is cunt.

Ask a hakka person to verify.

This thread is getting phenomenally long. While some are preoccupied with the discussion of life outlook, most are preoccupied with the precise definition of cipet, or cibet, wait wtf would I care.

Siew Wai, I used to have a friend who is also a housemate. It happens over a period of time, but it happens that he chose to estrange from me because he thinks my liking of complaining is affecting his emotion. Think about this. If your only goal is to make yourself happy, There are two ways for you to deal with your "whiner" friends: (1) force them to be happy, (2) leave them and find friends whose lifelong purpose is to make you happy.

舞者 said...

Siew Wai, just so that you know, and knowing that you are very delicate, I'm not trying to send you to the door, but to tell you an if-then-else scenario. We treasure each other as friends, but we don't always agree with each other's way of thinking. Healthy discussion is what friends do.
