Long awaited Bali trip

We are back, from Bali. Yay~~~~ Thanks to China National week (they merdeka) + mooncake festival holiday, we had a long break.

The flight was long, it was like 6 hours+, sit until wants to go crazy liao. But luckily, this time my ear is ok. I wear the ear pressure regulator thing on the whole flight, 6 hours, so you can imagine when i get off the plane, is a bit coo coo already.

After reach Denpasar airport, because we booked the hotel is in Ubud, there's another 1 hour car ride. It was raining... so when we reached the hotel and after check in, it was like 1am. The guy showed us around our villa, we were so excited even though at 1am. Check it out:

Our bed - it's like those 蚊帐床, is very back to nature, and antique.
Toilet -- this is just 2/3 of the whole bathroom! We played around in the hot tub (not that same night lah, damn tired), it was really fun.
The next morning, we checked out our villa outside, all green leaves plants, trees, and got a private pool! See the private pool? So close to nature, it was such a relaxing feeling just looking at the pool.
You don't see Jay like very brave like that, he doesn't know how to swim. He was pretending he was floating.. heheh.
Jay, relaxing at our villa. It was really a nice villa. We stayed at Royal Pita Maha, it has 53 villas together, each has a private pool. Because I handled the whole trip booking, Jay looked at me and asked how much a night is this? I told him the figure, he immediately jumped out from the seat and gu-jit me... he didn't know it was at that price. keekekekee.... oh hey, you also like the villa mah:p
This is our villa door. Antique isn't it? We have no hotel key card, we have lock. Yes, big lock.
This is the hotel lobby.
This is the lobby entrance:
At such classy hotel, even drinking plain water is very relaxing and enjoying... Speaking of drinks, i had papaya juice everyday in Bali. It was so nice!!
The next morning, after we enjoyed the breakfast, and enjoyed the 1 hour complimentary massage in the hotel, we rented half a day car to go out jalan-jalan and had our lunch at Ibu Oka (babi guling), recommended by someone in the hotel. It was very "meaty" i don't quite like that. And I thought indonesian mostly are muslim, this is babi wor how? The driver explained that 98% of Balinese are Hindus, so this explained why.
After Ibu Oka, we went to Kuta Square, bought a aroma oil, so nice the smell... it's expensive but it is really nice. Then saw a DVD shop, went in, wholly c**, so cheap! it's USD$1, and we scared quality not nice, so just bought 1, the "PS I Love You". We watched already, the quality is suberbly clear, translation is very accurate, and for this kind of quality, you have to pay RMB10 in China. So, the cheapest place to get good quality DVD is not in China anymore, it's in Bali! How we regret just buying 1 pc.
After that we went to beach. So many handsome ass guy surfing.
Next day we went to this Kintamani active valcano. It's quite foggy when we are taking the photo that time.
Then went to visit the Tempaka Siring, the temple.
I love this photo that Jay took. The kids are so naive, "clean", and happily eating the snacks at the pool side. This is such a peaceful picture.
People lining up to get a bath in this holy water. It was supposed to clean away all the sickness in your body and bring you good luck.
We went to Ubud Market after that. So many stores there... so many cool dining restaurants also!

The 3rd day, we went water rafting. Jay was a bit uncertain about this at first because he doesn't know how to swim. But the guide kept telling us it is fun, and even if drop to the water, got jacket, it will float. So, Jay decided to give it a try, he turned to me and said, "if i drop into the water, save me!" hahhaa... We are so glad we did this activity even though we are home with sore muscles, it was so fun!!!!!!!! so fun if there are more time, i want to try again!

Some crafter crafted all these image on the river bank. Isn't it cool? It all started 5 years ago and they are still doing it. Heard the hotel paid some of the money to them. Oh the water rafting is just around our hotel area, so convenient and so fun to see our hotel from the river!
Our guide, his name is Coco. He is a happy lad, and he kept reminds me of Coco Lee. hehehe...
After water rafting, we have to climb some stairs to go back to the rafting center. And here I spotted a good view of padi field. Before the long flight back to shanghai, and after the rough water rafting, we decided to pampered ourselves at some spa, I took a 3 hour package, and jay took his 2.5 hour package. It was so pampered I felt guilty to have such treatment. OK OK, no next time lah, gu gu jit bai! hohoho.... it was expensive the spa, there goes my dreamt PSP.. sob. [Jay made me belanja him spa, isn't him bad?!]

I like Bali. Would come back again if got chance. People here although mostly not rich, but they always have the contented smile on their face. I find that balinese are not greedy, they are friendly, and they worked hard to earn their money. Bali is so far the 2nd place I went to (besides cambodia) that I feel I am blessed to be a Malaysian.

The villa you stayed in is really lovely. Both of you looked so happy in the photos - can really see you both enjoyed it so much - truly money well spent!

Lucky you are not pregnant. Pregnant cannot take papaya, it will cause miscarriage. Eh.. issit very cloudy over there? Everyone says must eat babi guling. I have never been to Bali. Maybe will go there one day.

I'm not a medical doctor, but the association of papaya with miscarriage is probably a myth. Here is a passage from the book "What to Eat When You're Pregnant: Including the A-Z of What's Safe and What's Not" by Rana Conway:

Papaya is a good source of vitamin A (as beta-carotene) and vitamin C and there is no need to avoid it while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. In the past, particularly in parts of Asia, it was believed that eating papaya during pregnancy could cause miscarriage. Papaya contains an enzyme called papain, which breaks down proteins and helps to tenderise meat. This may have something to do with traditional beliefs, but there is no evidence that normal consumption presents any cause for concern.
