Age advanced, but Friendship never changed

If my dearest KL girl friends are reading this, sorry gals, for posting so late.

How would life be without you girls? =)

Siew Wai put chocolate onto her lips as lipstick.... keke... and then, out of no where she said, "我真不舍得离开你们一刻钟...."just when we feel so lum with her sentence, she finished it off with "..去大便", yah, because of long travel from Singapore to KL by bus, she didn't have chance to go toilet that whole day. hehhee...

That's her socks. Ain't it looked cute!

We had great dessert time together, Lizzie always know where to bring us for great dessert! yay. We talked about facial, pimples, 排毒, wrinkles, losing hair due to too frequent coloring, facial products from New York, 羊胎素, losing privacy at home because house is too small, and many more women talk. Guess with our age grade advancing, our conversation has moved to next level eh? hehehe... but one thing never changed, we still seem to be able to spend half day at Sungai Wang, buying stuff ranging from 炬油帽,Kerastase hair-conditioner, nail polisher, camera, almost bought bolster, hhehee.. yah, our bought list consists of weird range =) It was also very fun with 3 sopoh sitting in a car, with Sheau Huey driving the car but not knowing KL road very well, and the person who supposed to give direction, end up telling us the truth that "I saw that road sign some where near Ah Gong's place before". We almost ended up at our high-school intead of the high-tea house, but, Yee Ling's brother saved us at the end, giving direction over the phone. Hooray!

Girls, those are great great great memory to be simpan for long long time!

为我们的友谊万岁而欢呼!(...sounds like really "localized" phrase...)

Hairy Crab session with mom

After I told mom how tasty is hairy crab, and how disappointed I felt when I had the meat crab in KL lately (all the time I eating that meat crab, I am picturing the hairy crab... the feeling is very "having-affair" I guess), mom decided to try on hairy crab in Shanghai.

Last week, I was calling some restaurant, "do you have hairy crab yet?" Most answers are "not yet", some even if they have it, they sell it very expensive! It's not that I ku-hon on the money it's just I feel it's not worth it to spend that much on hairy crab when it is not really the season yet. I rather spend that money to eat fat fat haircy crab one month later when the season is more right, than spend so much now at skinny hairy crab.

So, I decided to explore carrefour near my house.

They have it at 3 price range! 128, 98, and 12.80 (all price is on basis of per 500gram). I picked 128, coz the rest are too skinny, no meat!

And then, because it's the first time I am going to kill hairy crab and put into our stomach, I am not sure if I can do it right, so I only bought 2 male hairy crab. I pointed at those that have bubbles coming out from their mouth, and asked the carrefour helper to wrap them up in plastic bag.

So, I went home, and wash them with toothbrush.
And then, I called up Aigie what to put (just ginger), how to steam (just like how you steam pao), and steam for how long (Aigie said 20 min, I think it's too long, I just steamed for 15 min).
And then... ta-da!!!!!!!!!

It was so tasty!!!! I cannot believe my mom is so pandai to eat, she said she agrees with me, it's tastier than meat crab!!! hohohoho... bui bui was rather disgusted at the fact that both of me and mom find hairy crab so tasty. He still cannot get over the thought that they have fur on their kiam and legs. hahahah... Mom and I were discussing what's the most efficient way to suck the meat from their legs, and bui bui just looked at us as if we were from Mars. =)

We regretted we only bought 2. If we were to know that it is so easy to cook them, I would have bought more!!

The next morning, mom told me she dreamt that she still eating hairy crab! hahahhaa =)

Now that I know how to cook them, I am going to buy MORE hairy crabs in another month's time, when the season is more right! yay!!!

God... are you listening to my prayer recently?

At age of 12, I used to think the worst thing that could happen to me, is to fail UPSR. But thank God I passed with flying colors.

At age of 18, I used to think the worst thing that could happen to me, is not able to go to the right university, and end up at those cheap-plak uni. Thank God, I got into the well-known university, at a great living place like Vancouver.

At age of 22, I used to think the worst thing that could happen to me, is not able to get into a well-known corporate, getting a great pay-cheque. Thank God, I got what I want. And at that point, I really think my pay is quite good for a start.

At age of 27, I used to think the worst thing that could happen to me, is not able to meet my Mr. Right. Thank God, I met my hubby in my mid-27. He is really my Mr Right, loving and caring and accept who I am.

Now, at age of 32, the worst thing had happened. My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer, last stage.

My life in the past 2+weeks was totally upside down. There isn't one day that I haven't been crying. I tried to act positive and strong in front of my mom, and so, I only cry when I was alone. Some terrible thing has happened to my dearest dad. He was diagnosed to have sigmoid colon cancer, last stage. Yah, the most words I ever used in the past 2 weeks+ are: 'cancer', 'last stage', and of course, 'chemo'.

It all started when he had headache for days and he went to see doc, and he also complaint about his toilet habit has changed since Feb. Doc did a brief scan and found some mass on his lower abdomen. He flew back from Terengganu to KL on the very same night, and see specialist the next day. He was then hospitalized.

On first day he was hospitalized, I prayed he will be fine and the biomass they saw on scan is a mistake. When he was hospitalized and they found that both of his kidney was swollen a bit, I prayed that nothing was wrong with his kidney and it's just normal for people who are aging. When the doc told us he has to put a tube on his kidney the next day because according to his analysis, my dad kidney was blocked, I prayed that the operation is a success and I told myself it is OK, it's just a tube. Then on Friday afternoon, they came back with blood test result and colon-scopic result, and found out he has cancer and they need to remove the tumor. I prayed that it's only a good tumor, and it's nothing serious. But they then announced that it's spreading like a carpet inside his stomach, and that's 4th stage, he only has 3 months left if he doesn't remove the tumor. I almost fainted. I questioned God. Why is he not satisfied with my smaller and simpler wish each day??

My hubby good fren Eric picked me up from the airport, and drove me to the hospital. I saw my dad in ICU, with so many tubes pocking through his vain, and many wires pocking his skin to take different sort of readings. He just came out from the major operation. I have never see my dad so weak, so fragile, so thin, and hair so grey. I broke into tears. Even in such condition, he hold my hand, and said "I am fine" in weak tone. Never in my life I felt so heart broke. It's such a torture for him to go through this.

My dad spent his Father's Day in ICU this year. No cake, no celebration. His blood pressure was very high after the operation.

And my mom was so weak. She cries everyday at home, refused to eat, and cannot sleep. She kept thinking why this kind of thing can happen to such a good man, a man who has never cheated country (never cheat on tax, never have unpaid saman), who has helped so many people in his life (he helped his student to get into good job by recommendation), who always donate money to different organization to help disabled & poor, who always provide the best thing to his family while he himself just live a plain life, and, who has just retired 4 months ago, haven't even started to enjoy life.

Whenever I think of what my mom said, i cannot help feeling sorry to my dad too. So, I tried not to dwell too much on what my mom said. And tried to cheer her up, encourage her to think positive, and make sure she take every meal.

Then do you know what doctor told me? He told me, even my dad went through chemo therapy, he can just be prolonged another 1 year. He just said it like he was talking to someone who sells vegetable to him in the market. Plainless expression. The doc even told me before he eventually die, he will suffer a lot of pain and only morfein can help him. He said morfein can help him die with dignity. I really hate this doctor. I cannot understand these doctors, how can they just say things like that. How can they be so negative? But later on, I roughly can understand. They probably don't have anyone they love to go through all these.

After 2 days ICU and 7 days general ward, my dad finally can come home to rest. The wounded area was still painful, but it was getting better everyday. It's still so difficult to even think that my dad might leave us within 12 months. Whenever I think of this, I feel painful too. The even more painful thought is, would I be able to fly back on time to see him before he die?? It takes half a day to travel from SH to KL!

But I am so glad my dad is such a strong person. He is positive. He kept saying he will fight through this. He still wants to come to Shanghai to visit me later this year. And he has promised mom last time to bring her to Europe. He said "hopefully I can still fulfill my promise"...

It's sore, it's helpless. Only miracle and God can help my dad. I prayed a lot nowadays, and I really hope God is listening, and continue to give me strength and hope. And I hope I can get leave and go back for his 1st chemo treatment.

p/s: I am also glad I have a very understanding manager. Although I used up my AL already, she said she has no problem to approve my leave whenever I need to apply to go back see my dad.

Excellent!

I wrote an email to my boss:
"I don't think I can work with XXX. To me, she has attitude problem (never admit own mistake), take no initiative at work (go out store visit, I have to ask her to take photos everytime, if not she just wont take), and make mistakes. And I pointed out for her, she still think she is correct, with lots of excuses.

Maybe she is very good while working for you. But to me, she cannot live up to my expectation.
Also, I don't think it is fair to judge my leadership skill on just one assistant like her.

If you ask me now, I like very much to fire her. BUt I know some how this is not possible. So, please change someone to replace her. I cannot work with her."

Boss immediately have a word with me. She said she knows about this, that bitch already complaint to her.

They have a solution, replace her with someone. I already know who is that someone, I am SO HAPPY that it is someone whom I can work comfortably with! yay!! But bad thing is, transition takes 2 months ++.

My assistant must be really like this company, until already at this stage, still don't want to leave but rather company move her around like a piece of shit. I asked my manager why cannot fire her? My manager said, "unless u can prove that she did a BIG mistake, we cannot simply fire someone. And, there's no absolute right or wrong at workplace." In another word, cannot fire people.

Makes me realized that no matter what mistake I did, slack off, don't do work, company won't fire me one, coz this is the culture. The worst is u stay where u are and no promotion only.

Anyway, I am HAPPY!!!!!!:)

Fuck her big bor!

I am very blessed to have a hubby like J. He really knows when to support me, when to scold the asshole together with me, and when to keep mouth shut when I am in "bitching" mode.

Yesterday, after work, I met him downstairs. As soon as he saw my sour face, he said, "what's wrong babe? is it she again?"

I said, "That blardy lazy ass!! Not only she cannot do work properly, she also wear tight t-shirt to show her fat mitchelin body shape and her BOR!!!! She even purposely unbutton the first 2 button to show her BIG BOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hubby, "yah, fuck her big bor!"

Although he just cakap cakap saja, the way he make the comment just to make me feel better and laugh out, is really cute.

After laughing, I forgot about that asshole.

I am really blessed to have him with me:)

p/s: I know I shouldn't have made such comment about her body shape. But you have to agree that when you dislike someone to a certain extent, even a small thing made by that person make u pissed off to the roof. HA!

More nia sing about assistant!

I cannot take it anymore, and thus, I had a word with my assistant this morning.

She was face black black for the whole time I talking to her, head bowed down, not even want to look at me.

I pointed her careless mistakes in her work, my expectations, and her shortfall. For everything I pointed out, she got excuse to tell me. And if I probed further of her excuse, her excuse could not stand.

Then I asked her does she has anything want to say or not. She said no. I said then why face black black? She said, "you think only. I did not". NIA SING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tell her company gave her pay rise is not for nothing. You have to work, not slack off. Then she said she is working very hard. She has too much on hand to do. I then said, "if you think u are over-load, then tell me. Please tell me which part of your work is overloaded, I can ask 3rd party to do for you." She replied with silence.

NIA SING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really wish to kick her out!!! Can somoene tell me why my company never fire people??!! Even they are rubbish????!!!!!!

I am so pissed at her.

p/s: I think I am the first one who blog about how I dislike about my assistant instead of boss. ARGH!!!!!

nightmare

I have a nightmare. And it woke me up at 7am this morning. (i normally only wake up at 7.45am, with the alarm clock ringing on and off for like 5 times since 7.15am)

It goes like this:

I received an email (i dunno who sent lah, it's in a dream ok), the email text is asking me, if I would like to donate a container of medical supply to those people in wenchuan (earthquake zone).

I replied, "what's the price of a container?"

the email, replied, "10900 renminbi".

For some reason, in real life, I always cannot differentiate 万,and ten thousands. In English, 10,000 is ten thousand. But in Chinese, it's called "yi-wan" (一万). Imagine, how to switch my mindset huh? one is 1, one is 10. But they meant the same figure. wah lau.

To make the story short, I thought it was just 1,900 renminbi per container. So, I replied, "ok, i can donate 1 container."

Later on, I realized it is 10,900 renminbi. It is 10.9K RMB!!! WAHhhhhhhh...

Damn scary, 10K leh!!! I thought 1K!! wah.....

Sweating, inside the dream, I was thinking to ask my good friend Ms A. to share half with me. hahaha...

OK lah, if I have a lot of money, I don't mind lah. But to me, 10,000 is still a lot to me, it's like 3 airtickets back to KL leh, back & forth some more. It's a lot of money.

p/s: death toll has risen to over 60,000 people. Very sad.
p/s: this is the first nightmare i had that is related to money...

Angelina Jolie....?

My good fren, Ms.A, told me she wanted to adopt an orphan from the recent sichuan earthquake. She said she wants to be Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Suddenly my mind was flying from orphan to sexy Angelina Jolie and Leng Chai Brad Pitt.

Then I said to her, "Angelina Jolie now got pregnant wor"

Ms. A, "yah, if I got pregnant later, I also won't mind. It's God's will."

Me... think & think & think....

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

At night, after dinner, watching tv live-broadcast and saw those poor kids on tv, I told hubby about Ms.A thinking. Hubby was very shocked. "Wah..."

I said, "babe, I also have similar thinking..."

Hubby, "you also want ah???"

Me, "..... I was thinking to adopt.... a dog"

I am not ready for ji-li-gua-la kids yet, I think. But I think I am ok with a dog as pet first...

Hubby said if the dog has no fur then he will agree. But I said I want the dog with quite some fur one... how......... how how........

I met an interesting taxi driver

I just now took a taxi from pudong to puxi. And met this interesting driver. He is 56 years old.

After I got in, he kept saying oh-ni-toh-fut while driving, I asked him why, he said he is not familiar with the road in pudong, and afraid he can't take me out to puxi.

I told him don't worry. Pudong road is wide, and with road sign, and we can ask people. And I joke with him (i good mood today), "just as long as you don't take 2 hours to bring me back to puxi, i still want to go back to office". He is so cute, he repeated saying oh-ni-toh-fut many times, and he said, "don't make me faint, my dear lady".

We got out of the pudong, with a few wrong turnings, and I have to watch out the road-sign to direct him to the right road. The meter was already 24 bucks when we were taking the Fuxing tunnel. (to my understanding, from the place I onboard to the cab to fuxing tunnel, if he doesn't go wrong way and kept making circle, should be around 15 bucks.) And he spoke, "just now u come here from puxi, how much u paid?" I said, "47". He said, "ok, i will stop the bill at 47 later".

And we chit chat. He seems to be very optimistic person. Then he said he believes in buddha because buddha saved people. Then our conversation shifted to donation. And he told me he donated 20 bucks this morning to the people in wenchuan. It's a donation his leader insisted everyone to at least give in 10 bucks. I said, "why make it so hard? It should be on own's will." He said, "I agree. But I also willingly donate this 20 bucks".

He then told me he has lots of sickness - high blood pressure, heart-attack symptoms sometimes, removed his 胆囊 (cannot eat meat), shoulder strain, hand strain, etc. Then he said his taxi rental is 375 yuan per day. Petrol, is 200 yuan per day (summer increased much more because all passenger want air cond). And if kena fine on highway, it is 200 yuan to police department, and his 单位 will also fine him 100 yuan. I said, "WHAT??? WHAT HAS IT TO DO WITH YOUR COMPANY UNIT??" He said, "it's communist. If you don't like the decision, they will ask you go to court." At that moment, although I am not very proud to be malaysian, but, at least in malaysia, if we get fined, we don't pay our company money besides just paying the policeman, right??

So, he said sometimes in a day, he earned 200 yuan only, after one whole day of driving. Sometimes, he rugi because if kena fine, where got leftover?

He also told me he was raised up during the time of when the teenagers were forced to be sent to all kampong, to do the hard work at farm. So he said his life is very kon-kor. He said soemone told him this is 报应 (revenge), because his was a butcher in his previous life, killed many animals.

I feel so sad for him. He saw me from the mirror and saw my sad face, he suddenly salute to me
"敬礼!" hehehe.. he is such an optimistic person.

I donated 200 yuan to the wenchuan incident today, through office collection. Now I regret. I should have donated this 200 yuan to this poor driver. I like his spirit, living a hard-life, and yet can stay so positive and so optimistic.

When I get out, I seriously wished him "I wish your next customer is to Pudong Airport." He salute to me again "敬礼!".

* for someone not know shanghai situation very well, ALL taxi drivers love to take passengers to Pudong Airport, because the distance is very far, and the bill can go up to 150 yuan within 1 hour. From airport, they can bring people back into town, which is another 150 yuan. That's 300 yuan at least in 2-2.5 hour. They can never earn so much bring customer within the city locations.

I want to strangle my assistant!

My assistant is doing things so slow, again.

Slow is ok, but full of mistakes!!

Sometimes I have the urge to call my ex-boss, to whom I was his assistant last time. I want to tell him how lucky he was to have me as his assistant last time because all the shits that my assistant is giving me now, I never gave him before! So, he was extremely lucky before!!!

Nia Sing... do you know that when she cannot solve the problem on the phone, she will transfer the call to me, without pre-warn me first! KNNCCB! Why she like that one???

I am married to a hero

Hubby and I were watching the direct broadcast news last night.

Soldies were using barehand to remove all the rubble and debris, and clean water, food, tent (many of them is without shelter because it was raining, and they don't dare to go back to their house, or for most of them, there's no more houses... all collapsed), medical supplies were still not able to get into the 汶川 because highway from all directions to the town were ALL collapsed, and no way to go in, not even helicopter because of the bad weather. 汶川 is totally cut off from the world. No one can save them. Simply no one. The helpless feeling is very eerie... and sad. The soldiers have to use the bomb to bomb up the land-slide big rock on the highway, and remove the debris, and move on, and this takes forever!

Hubby suddenly sigh-ing, and said, "babe, I wish I can go there to help them dig."

I was so touched.

Last night, I realized I am married to a hero... the thought really counts. But if he does pack and making a move to go there, I will selfishly stop him. I cannot risk losing him to those hard condition!

Number 88, is not always lucky..

Yesterday, I have unspeakable experience in the morning. I was at police station, getting a temporary residence permit paper because my working permit booklet has finished, need a new one, and my address was not the same as the one inside it because I moved 2 years ago. I got fined from the policeman, sorry, it's a police-woman, because I did not register my new residence address 2 years ago. Like that also can. Nia sing lah cheena!!!!!!!!!

The fine was 300 only, but I have to wait in line for so long, see the officer, make a 口录 (record in paper what I said), sign so many papers (I think about 10), each paper i need to sign, acknowledge that I understand chinese language with specifically writing "我懂中文” on each of the signed paper. Then, I have to walk about 10 minutes to another bank, line up for 50 minutes, paid the fine, and take the receipt, walk back 10 minutes to police station, and then line up again, AND THEN ONLY GET THAT STUPID PAPER!!!! When I get that paper, I treasure it so much I nearly crying, it's like getting my pay check after a one day of hard work like that. Niasing, tiu, KNNCCB!!!

So, I dragged my tired body to office. It's such a torture.

At close to 3pm, I felt so dizzy, I thought because of the tortured I had in the morning, I thought I was sick, again. So, I sweared inside my heart KNNCCB not sick again!!!!! Then, my colleague suddenly exclaimed, "did u feel it?? did you feel it???? is it earthquake?????!!!" Then we all said we are felt it, and we all thought we were sick. Hahaha... within 30 seconds or so, all colleagues in front (our cubicle was at the back) were gone. They were gone, so fast!!! I grab my bag, my handphone, and run to the lift too. Yah, I am so stupid, I took the lift. Could be so dangerous. While taking the lift, I called my hubby who is at different floor. He just started walking down the stairs. So we met at ground floor.

When we reached ground floor, there were so many people already. The view was very spectacular. Soon, the police car was here, they block the whole place, and scolded us to ask us move away from building. Coz we all still blur blur, gather below the building. After living in China for too long, my mind become quite stupid at some circumstances. HA!!!

The picture was taken after we walk across the street. It was so crowded with people. And cars are honing, coz so many people on the road. We also saw a car that was parked on the road side, it was moving back and foreward slightly. That was scary... the ground is moving.

We got evacuated. Went home. Colleague said don't take subway, later die in subway if earthquake is here. So, we took taxi. Tiu, should have taken subway. Can listen to more bakua news in subway normally.

Went home turn on the news. Nothing. Waited. Reporter said no update because the phone line was down. But we were told the earthquake is from a place near sichuan, called wenchuan (汶川),I later googled, it was a place near 九寨沟!Wholly shit, that's the place I wanted to go visit in October. I hope it was not damaged.... please...

While I was flipping the channel, got some channel still showing a big deal about olympics 火炬传递, I cannot believe it. There's big casualty in sichuan and you guys still got the heart to discuss olympics???

Some channels are still showing love stories. There's only 1 channel out of 70 local channels that is broadcasting the news about earthquake, can you believe it?

Still no updates til 7pm, only know that 温家宝 got on to his private jet flying to wenchuan to direct the job of saving lifes. So we got fed up, we watched DVD movie and went to bed.

This morning only got update on TV. School and hospital collapsed in wenchuan. I don't dare to imagine the casualties. Sigh... Dear God... are you really not happy lately? Why such natural disaster??

Yesterday was the 88th-day countdown from Olympics. I guess the number of 88 is not always lucky huh?

Huan Da, 安息吧

Hubby's best friend suddenly passed away yesterday, in Muar. A friend who called Jay last night said he was helping friend to build a bird nest house, and fall from high point, with head landed onto the ground, went unconscious for 2 days, and passed away yesterday. He left his wife, friends, and family, just like that. Without last word spoken, without last reminder, without last hug.

I was shocked. Cried. He is such a good friend to have. And he likes to joke around, being around him you will never feel bored. And he will do lots of things for friends, even though he don't express it, but, from small little things, I can notice this trait after knowing him not long.

We went to bed last night, with heavy heart and not much words spoken to each other.

This morning, Jay kissed my forehead tenderly before going to work. He every morning also will kiss my forehead before going to work, but today, I can feel it was with tones of love and feeling. I was very touched. After Jay left for work, I can't help but to think about a lot of things, about death.

If someone die, what was playing on their mind the second before they breath the last breath?

If someone die suddenly, do they realize they are dying? Or they just continue doing the last thing they are doing?

When someone die, do they get a chance to speak to God, and ask for extention? And what would have God answer to him?

After someone die, can they see their friends and family crying with heart broken, and can they touch their tears and whisper into their heart, "don't cry... I am fine here"... Can they still kiss their wife and tell her don't be too sad and that they will meet again in the future at God's side? And when they kiss their wife, can the wife feel?

And then a question to God, why good people seems to die so young, and the bad people, still wake up every day breathing fresh air, and continue living their good life by torturing people around them?? Why???

The last we saw him, it was this year Chinese New Year, at Jay's parents house. He was still full of jokes, eating, chatting, and saying he wants to come shanghai visit us one day.

If I would have known this was the last face-to-face meeting with him, I would have hug him instead of just a waving good bye to him.

If his wife know he doesn't have many days in life that time, would she have agreed with him to come settle at Muar instead of Jakarta? Would she have sacrificed her work and family for the man she loves? He loves her so much and kept saving money so he could provide her a good life in Muar and not having to live separately in 2 different land. He is really a good man, for his wife, family, and his friends!

Huan Da, Jay and I will forever have a spot in our heart to remember you, and your jokes. We will miss you. 安息吧。

I realized..

I suddenly realized, this year, after birthday, I am 33.

I also realized I have some fine-lines at the bottom of my eyes, when I smile. This is totally SHIT!!

I then realized, my neck has lines too, and it is quite dried, thanks to Shanghai weather. And this is totally SUPER SHIT!!

岁月不留人。No matter how good 刘嘉玲 preserves her skin, her body shape, her hair, if you see her in any show lately, you realized her face skin begins to sag, and her eyes are no longer beautiful.

If 刘嘉玲 cannot stop aging, who am I to stop the fine lines around my eyes area, and neck??!!

It is so sad to think about this.

p/s: it's time to start using more powerful eye-gel and neck-gel. SHIT! And I thought those products are for 40 years old women. BLARDY SHIT!!!!!!

Sayorana. Please don't come back.

Today is someone's last day.

I was quite relief over this outcome. She is someone you won't feel comfortable being with, because she is very self-centered, and ignored all other people's feeling by giving some comment that she thinks it is 100% correct. Such as, "which is the tv MC you liked most?" me, "Ms A". "What? She? She no taste one la.." ........ hey, if everyone like what you like, then there will be only one tv MC in this whole blardy world ok??!! Nia sing!

So, she is leaving. I am glad.

In fact, I don't think she did a good job at her work at all. But boss hired her, must be for some real good reason.

Cheena? Chinese?

Read my friend's blog, and can feel he is very angry that some oversea chinese (like me?) is calling China Chinese as cheena, or cheenaman.

I wanted to debate with him, but I decided why waste my gas. The more I work in corporate world, the more I come to realize EVERY individual has DIFFERENT thinking, ALL the time.

Some people think cheena is related to Japanese time in China last time, where they mockingly called the chinese as cheena, 支那人.

I can tell you whenever I called them cheena, it's not related to Japanese or whatever. But, mocking, yes. I called them cheena because I feel calling them chinese is unfair, because chinese is a very general term, and it includes every chinese, including malaysian chinese, singapore chinese, indonesian chinese, american chinese and so on & so on. When you see "cheena" in my text, it simply means I am refering to the irritating bunch of chinese in china, normally this includes rude people, spitting people, people who pushed people around in a wide area public place, people who argued in public place in high pitched tone, people who give you dead-man-face when you just asking them simple question, people who don't line up and love to push around, and last but not least, people who smoke in public or restaurant ignoring there are pregnant women, kids, or old people around them who will not benefit from being a 2nd-hand smoker.

That's my definition of "cheena"!

Age

Today's news:
"...average person can live up to 73 years old for male, and 78 years old for female."

Also, today's news:
"2007年上海户籍劳动年龄人口相比上年减少5.24万人,15~59岁劳动年龄段人口首次出现负增长。上海成为中国第一个出现劳动人口负增长的城市。

进入「十一五」以来,上海老年人口以平均每年逾十万的速度增加,上海正「快步走入」老龄社会。统计显示,截至2007年12月31日,上海60岁及以上老年人口达268.83万人,占上海户籍总人口的比重首次超过1/5。"

I can understand the second point. But the first point where guys get to live til 73 is puzzling me super big time. I mean, 95% (or more) men smoke in China, how come they still live that long?? Are you kidding me???

My rationale:
1) The news is wrong. Facts are wrong. Number is taken from sky.
2) Maybe the tea and/or alcohol helps. Tea + Alcohol (57% type some more) + Cigarrette can prolong age-span! If I am a medical students thinking of a thesis to write at final year, this topic will seem interesting!

(yes yes yes... I still whinning about why so many sibeh cheena lang smoke in china. Can someone tell them their cigarrette is really sibeh smelly??)

Happiness (Malaga Trip) and Sickness

Happiness:

I was with Jay’s incentive trip to Spain Malaga for 6 days 5 nights. It is an owesome trip. The trip totally open my eyesight about Europe countries. Before this trip, I thought Europe is English speaking country. Finally I realized I am wrong. They speak everything from French, Germany, Spanish, Arabian, but only very little English. So a lot of body language was used in the trip.

Someone told me Spanish is the most speaking language in the world, not English. I wonder is this true or not. And, I think the Spanish language is very beautiful. I don’t mind to learn this language at all.

Malaga is a very beautiful city, got the Mediterranean sea, beautiful flowery buildings, churches all around, and Picasso Museum! I never know Picasso was from Spain until this trip. And we were debating whether to join the day tour to the Picasso Museum because both Jay and I are not a museum-person. Anyway, I am glad we make a correct choice. It was without regret to learn so much about Picasso in the trip! And there was a joke when visiting the Picasso museum:

Tour guide (he is Spanish, but speak good English, but still sometimes I cannot quite understand his English): “I want to tell you all that Picasso started using cubism (pubic-ism) in his drawing starting from 19xx. Can you see the cubism from this art? Beautiful isn’t it?” At that time, he was pointing at a piece of Art where it showed the woman’s private part (Picasso pieces have a lot of women’s element. He has 4 focuses in his art: Woman, Family, Friends, Sex&Death), and so I thought he was saying pubic-ism. You know, pubic as in pubic hair….

So I was enjoying his art and kept remembering he uses a lot of pubic-ism in his drawing. Until few minutes later, I finally understand he was referring to cubism (cubic, as in 3D drawing). I was chuckling to myself. And I told this joke to Jay, he said I am so hamsap. Hahaha..

Anyway, I enjoyed very much about Picasso Art. I love the part of his drawing where one face can have more than one interpretation. Such a genius of using cubism. And, he has so many women. He is quite hamsap too.

We also went to Ronda, where the ancient bridge is there, and also the bullring is there. However, due to time constraint, we didn’t get a chance to see the bull-fightL Tour guide (his name is Miguel, quite a funny man) said, “don’t feel frustrated, come back again.” Wah… he must not have understand it is not easy for us Asian to go to Europe. The flight time was so long. Sit until pet pet also pain lah.

I also enjoyed the Malaga city tour itself very much. We went into a souvenoir shop, where this uncle is so friendly. He is old, and very enthusiastic to show us his stuff. We were already late for group lunch, and yet at the same time we feel so reluctant to tell him stop showing us stuff because we are late. Anyway, he is a good man, even though we can’t seem to understand each other very much – it takes us more than 30 seconds to explain we looking for chocolate. Hahaha… body languages were used, including I gei-gei put something into my mouth and chewed and give him a thumbs up, then only he knows we are referring to chocolate.

the resort that we were staying. It was a lovely resort. Each house was different from the other, and very homy feel.

This is the mosque just next to our resort. During certain hour, can hear the sembahyang sound very clearly.

Some other beautiful pictures I took:

Sickness:

I am still well in the first 2 days I reached Shanghai. Then my throat was suddenly so painful when I woke up on Sunday morning. I thought I had sore-throat from cold. So I took a lot of cold medicine. Then Monday morning, each saliva-swallow process was so torturing. It was so painful. And I have fever. But because I already took 5 days off last week for vacation, it really isn’t that nice to tell my company I am sick and can’t come in for work on a Monday right? So I just tell them I need to go to see doc and be in office later. As usual, morning I cannot catch any cab. So I took subway to a more popular station where there is cab so I can take the cab from there to the hospital. I tell you, I almost fainted in the subway. As time goes by, I feel some stars are dancing in front of my eyes. The feeling is horrible. It’s like when your handphone is low on battery, you so afraid it will suddenly just went dead. I was so worried if I fainted in the subway, who is going to rescue me? Superman as in the movie?? Or what? So I prayed and prayed, finally it was that stop, and I got off with hand shaking. I am safe! Once I got off the subway, the fresh air make me feel better, and I slowly walked out to the street to catch a cab.

Doc said something in my throat was swollen. No wonder so painful lah. She gave me some medicine. She also said if it does not subside 3 days later, must come back see her. She said it in a very serious tone. I actually got worried a bit. From her tone, can see that this sickness can be quite serious if not treated immediately.

So, I dragged my fevered body, aching head and painful throat to office to finish my hundreds email.

The painful level got better today. I hope it will recover soon. Deep down inside me, I very worried it was a small fishbone that I accidentally swallow in Spain, on Apr 16th. But I don’t feel any uncomfortable on 17th onwards. Could it be that stupid bone? I swear to God again I am not going to have another fish in my life. This time I mean it. My throat is so bone-friendly I am so sick of it. Blardy throat!

Once again, I realized health is very important. So important that nothing else matters anymore when you are sick, even if it is just flu or diarrhea. My sister lately also have some health issue. I am praying hard she will get through again this round. My little sister is much stronger than I mentally, for this I really respect her. The same kind of thing she is going though if happen to me, I don’t think I can take it the way she is handling it. So to my sister I want to say “hang on there, and I hope you get well soon my dearest sister. And I wish no more torture stuff will land upon you after you pass through this obstacle!”

I love you Ah Mi. Be tough and good ok?

small gas king!

My distributor is so small gas, I feel suffocating working with them!!!! They are all sibeh small woman behavior, small small thing also think it is after them and then angry at me. tiu nia sing. Beijingnese again!

Help!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~

Can you stop talking?

I realized I cannot work with 2 types of people, coz as soon as they start talking, I am immediately turned off. If they talk longer in their local slang, I feel so agitated I swear I can slap them if my self-control is low.

First type is Beijing-nese, or people from north part of China that speaks in those northern tone. I feel so tired everytime I listen to them talking. The tone is very "circling", a bit like ah-neh-neh type, I feel I can die immediately. And, they love talking. The non-stop sense is very killing me.

Second type is, French whose English is poor. Their frenchie tone, can kill me too. And 50% of the time while they are talking, I totally don't know what they talking about. Arrrghh... torturing.

Today, is my not-so-lucky day. The above 2 types of people, called me at different period of time.

They are so persistent, although my tone (over the phone) is already showing them I very busy (including typing while talking to them, drinking water and making the gulping sound, kept on "eh-hem.. hmm.." all the while they talking), they still talk, and talk, and talk...

Men really do not listen to us carefully....

Last night, something happened, and it proves to me again, Men are from Mars...

It started like this:

Hubby: "I am going to do laundry tonight, but Black colors only tonight. You have any black dress and shirts want to wash?"

Me: "YES! Wait for me, I go get it!"

So, I throw a total of 5 black shirts to the laundry bag, and continue my cooking session in the kitchen.

After 2 hours later... hubby went to take out the clothes from the washing machine and hang them.

Me:" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! WHY YOU WASH YOUR TOWEL??!!! It's not black!!! And it got a lot of mao-mao that will stick onto the black shirt!!!!!!"

Hubby kept quiet, coz he dulan I yelled so loud.

Look lah, I yelled because I hate all the mao-mao stick onto the black color clothes. They are so irritating! Actually, nowadays I try not to buy black color clothes because they are so easy to get sticked by the mao-mao... eee...

So, proves again, Men really do not listen to us carefully. His towel is not black color. It's blue.... and with mao-mao!!! >_<

>_<

Huangshan Trip #1

We, 6 of us, went to Huangshan over the weekend. It was a short 2 days trip, by bus (6 hours through, another 6 hours forth). P.M. asked us how was the trip today, and here's what Winston replied in the email "foggy, raining, tired, and dai-D (Big 2)". Hahaha...

Yah, it was very foggy, and raining. 1st day was practically wasted. We reached there around 1.30pm, had lunch and by the time we get on the cable car to go up there (yah, we lazy ass, not climbing up. But how to climb? It takes 5 hours to climb!!), it was around 3pm something. Checked in the hotel, dumped the heavy back pack, and it started raining so heavily outside!! So, our Dai D session started at 4pm til 6pm (dinner time). Luckily we came in a group. If not, what to do in hotel besides you watch me, I watch u?

We must say the hotel standard is much better than what we thought and imagined. It was small, but cozy, and clean (esp carpet and toilet). I hate to say this, but this hotel is much much much better than the 1088 yuan Zhao Long Hotel!!

1st night, was Dai D session til 11pm again. Outside hak-ma-ma, nothing else to do also. But, a lot of campers camped outside the hotel. I don't know why they can do that. But most importantly, I cannot understand how they stand the wind and rain at night. It was so windy at night, I can hear the "woo woo" wind sound on and off. Poor them.

At 5am, those campers already making noises. Sunrise time is around 5.49am, according to the hotel forecast system. Hotel also implicated the chances of seeing the Sun rise was 40% that day. Of course lah, so foggy and rainy. I was a bit disappointed. But I still woke up Babe to go to window see whether the sky is clear or not at 5.00am. He went to window unwillingly, open up the curtain, and said "i can't see anything honey.." I said, "did u put on your glasses?" Babe replied, "honey, I mean it is very foggy, I can't see anything!". So we went to sleep again.

At 5.20am, my alarm snoozed again. I was hoping the wind blow the fog away in the past 20 minutes. So I ask babe go see if the sky was cleared. My babe murmured "why don't u go see yourself. so unfair". I just pushed him off the bed, he no choice, go to window and replied, "i still can't see anything honey"...

So, I was indeed disappointed. Sleep until 6am. Can't sleep no more coz the campers outside were really very noisy. And got tour-guide speaking through the microphone too, "bla bla bla". WOW, they sure wake up early and climb few stair case (from another hotel I suspect) to reach here to try thier luck to see sunrise. I picked this hotel because i know we can see sunrise just outside the hotel. Haha... smart or not? But luck was not on my side lah, can't see no sun that day at all, don't even hoping for sun-rise.

But we were lucky, the next morning was not raining anymore! But fog was still on and off there, so we managed to snap a few pictures when the fog was thin. And climbed some stair case to cover some tourist spot. Jay and I really enjoyed the view even though it is quite foggy. We plan to come back here again, soon! (That's why I put the title of this post as "Huangshan Trip #1, coz #2, 3, 4 is definitely coming up soon! hehehe)

p/s: one thing we love huangshan is, 95% of the area was NO SMOKING ZONE! Haahhahaa.... the air was so clean! I love it!!!

Cable Car view. Cable car took 15 minutes, 80 rmb. If climb, takes 5 hours.

Just got off cable car.
6 of us (I holding the camera lah. haha) - left to right: Calvin, hubby, Winston, Keng Fei, and Wendy.

See my hubby is so excited. haha..
Can u see different shape of the mountain rocks?? I wonder how they form like this, especially the left first one. Looks like a chestnut.
Campers that camped outside our hotel. I took this picture just from our room's window.
This tree is called "lover tree" wor... can u see it looks like 2 person sticking together:)

Can u see the locks? The lovers come here to lock up the lock, and throw the key down the mountain to signify their love is forever and ever. It's quite not environmental friendly though.

Huangshan -- I love you!!!!

relevancy... differentiator... brand development stage!

I was busy this week, yah... again.

Anyway, we were in the meeting room, coz the big guai boss is here, and we have media review. Yes, they want to review if the money spent is worth the sell-through results we have or not.

For easy reference sake, let's say we have 3 brands in the company. Each is called Brand A, B, and C respectively.

Brand A is the biggest sales contribution. So, TVC (tv commercial) is doing great job. Brand B, was second big, until 2 years ago, the brand I handling (Brand C) has overtake it's second position. Muahahhaa... happy.

Anyway, we were discussing why the TVC of Brand B generates more than 100% of M/S ratio. more than 30% is pretty bad already. Imagine Brand B has the figures like more than 100% in some of the tv commercial.

The Brand B in charge person was sitting beside me.

She was reading some ppt, I key poh, I read too. It was just some Marketing Slides from somethin like text book material. Talking about brand relevancy, consumer experience, and brand development in a market. Something like that. She even turned to me and ask how do I pronounce "differentiator". I was thinking, you having exam later is it?

Guess what happened in next 20 minutes? I was so shocked, I have to calm myself down if not others will see my panic look. She started to comment! And the words that coming from her mouth, was those terms that she was "revising" minutes ago!!!

"Brand B might not be ready for TVC, because, the consumer don't feel the relevancy with the product, and they cannot experience the ownership, bla bla bla, and the years that this brand has entered into this market is very early, we cannot compare to U.S., bla bla bla... differentiator bla bla bla (i cannot remember what she said about differentiator).

Anyway, I am shocked. These chinese people, first of all, really is a great pretender. They can open up a text book kinda ppt and start revising the terms, and start bull-shiting. They can be thicked face too, got people force u with a gun meh? if you know about this "relevancy or not relevancy" at the first place, then why still go tvc?

I learnt a lesson yesterday. Bull-shitter is every where. And, they look like just anyone of us.

I really respect her yesterday! Coz after her "text book terms" comment, the boss simply did not chase after her why her M/S ratio is so high. The boss just concluded maybe the big chunk of money she has should give to Brand C to further brand develop. (hahahaha...)

"nah!!"

I every morning watch 15 minutes of news before go do my "private business".

Anyway, this morning, the news have something which shocks me -- more than half of the teenagers in Shanghai nowadays think that "honesty" is stupid and worthless!

I was showing middle finger at the TV screen - "nah!"

Come to think of it, no wonder any thing in China also can be fake (e.g. eggs, oranges, chopstick, water, lipstick, etc etc I can go on and on for days with the list), because honesty, is STUPID! haha...

Sigh...

The earth is sick - still cold in April, and snowed so many days in Shanghai this year.
BUT
The people is sick too...

Ching Ming

My colleague said this food is only available during Ching Ming festival (thomb sweeping). So, I buy and try.
Nothing fancy lah. A bit like our ang-ku-kuih, except ours is much more better. Inside is dao-sah, it's sweet. The flour is hard, not like our angku kuih, soft soft.

I miss hometown food again. Sigh...
